STREATOR — North of Kangley on a bluff overlooking the Vermilion River there is a cemetery no bigger than an acre that for over a century had been buried and forgotten — until recently.

After being pioneered overseas a half-decade ago, uterus transplants have come to the United States, but their success is still far from a foregone conclusion.
The nation’s first uterus transplant was performed in Cleveland in late February amid much fanfare. But after unexpected complications, it did however fail, the Cleveland Clinic announced on March 9.
