What does it mean!?!?
NewsTribune photo/Chris YucusExpiration dates are listed prominently on most perishable foods. But what do they mean? Most dates on foods are placed there to help companies track inventory, not to help consumers. With rare exceptions, product dates aren’t a very good guide for safe use at all, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

When your milk hits the date on the container, do you pour it out and crack open another jug? If so, you are pouring money and food down the drain, according to food experts. The date on milk is a “sell by” date. It helps the store rotate and stock milk. Generally, milk is safe and wholesome 7 to 10 days after the “sell by” date, according to University of Illinois Extension Service.

Social media is an excellent way to stay connected, to share ideas and experiences, keep in touch with friends and family, but for some, the constant stream of updates creates a fear of missing something that is better or more exciting than what they’re currently doing.
