Welcome Race fans!
I was in Florida visiting my sister Erin last week. I hope everyone enjoyed Nora’s take on the Race. I thought she did a great job.
On to this week’s episode.
It was a fun episode for my return to the blog.
The challenges were great. The base jump from a 37-foot building would have been terrifying and exhilarating at the same time, and the freaky maze in the salon certainly would have been interesting.
And who doesn’t love a good foot race to the mat?
Next week’s episode looks like it will be just as entertaining as there is another Double U-Turn.
Order of Finish
- Max and Katie, newlyweds
- Joey and Meghan, friends, YouTube hosts
- Caroline and Jennifer, friends, country band mates
- Bates and Anthony, brothers/pro hockey players (won second, sixth, seventh and eighth legs)
- Mona and Beth, friends/roller derby moms (NON-ELIMINATION)
Thumbs Up: To the classic Phil bait and switch. I don’t know why teams continue to fall for it, but whenever it’s a non-elimination, Phil acts as if the team will be eliminated, but after letting them get emotional and discuss their elimination, he surprises them with the news that they are still in the Race. For you future racers out there, if Phil doesn’t immediately say, “I’m sorry to tell you, you have been eliminated from the Race,” it’s a non-elimination.
Thumbs Down: To the racers who got the trivia questions wrong in the car. The first question was, “Which President said, ‘Take down this wall?’” It was a major moment in American’s not-too-distant history that people should know. The thumbs down is especially aimed at Max since he then admitted that Ronald Reagan is his favorite President.
Best Moment: I enjoyed the aftermath of Bates losing his bag. Jen was gracious to offer Bates some of her underwear if he needed it. Anthony also offered up his as well. Then in an interview, Jen was talking about how nice of a guy Bates was and it’s too bad that happened to him. Caroline responded, “Why don’t you just date him?”
Quote of the Week: On a personal note, I enjoyed when Bates called Anthony a “ding dong” for breaking his letter during the road block since that’s a favorite insult in the Chlum family, but I’m going to go with Mona and Beth. Mona asked, “Does A stand for autobahn?” Beth responded, “A stands for ‘Ahh, these people are driving really fast.’”
Question of the Week: If you were on this season of the Race, who would you U-Turn next week?
