Sam George smacked three doubles Friday to help the La Salle-Peru softball team open the season with a 9-2 victory over Effingham in the Effingham Invite.
Shana Puetz had four singles, Whitney Lippert hit a pair of doubles and Lauren Spelich had a single and a double.
Kristi Wallin earned the win in the circle for the Lady Cavaliers, who play at 11 this morning.
Princeton 8, Fulton 7
Abby Jaques belted a home run and a triple, drove in three runs and scored a run Friday to lead the Princeton softball team to an 8-7 victory over Fulton in a non-conference game in Princeton.
Allisa Holmbeck and Rachel Lawson each had an RBI for Princeton.
Fieldcrest 9 L-W/R-B 2
Kianna Klendworth went 3-for-3 with four RBIs Friday to lead the Fieldcrest softball team to a 9-2 victory over Lowpoint-Washburn/Roanoke-Benson in a non-conference game in Minonk.
Taylor Tjaden was 3-for-3 with three RBIs, while Taylor Sullivan and Hannah Peterson each drove in a pair of runs.
Lauren Tjaden earned the win in the circle.

Fieldcrest junior Tessa Holland placed in the five in two events Friday at the Illinois Prep Top Teams Meet at Illinois Wesleyan University’s Shirk Center.
Holland cleared 5 feet, 6 inches in the high jump to finish second and leapt 34-5.5 in the triple jump to place fourth. Hall’s Brooke Keegan placed sixth in the triple with a leap of 34-0.75.
Marquette senior Dani Aurit placed fourth in the 3,200 meters in 11:37.3, while Fieldcrest senior Maria Baldwin finished just behind her in 11:38.5. Baldwin also finished 13th in the 1,600 in 5:36.4.
Bureau Valley’s Lindsey Hoffert placed sixth in the long jump with a leap of 16-8.5.
Marquette’s 3,200 relay of Paige Aurit, Maria Ivanova, Suzie Johnson and McKenzie Mattes placed 10 in 10:26.92, Hall’s Madi Quinn ran a 9.66 in the 60 hurdles and Fieldcrest’s Abbie Fuller took 18th in 60 in 8.38.
In the boys meet, the Bureau Valley 1,600 relay team of Tucker Schoff, Kane Eastwood, Ryan Taylor and Daniel Trone ran a 3:37.06 to place second.
The Storm’s 800 relay of Schoff, Kane and Michael Eastwood and Will Konneck ran a school-record 1:37.42 to finish sixth.
Fieldcrest’s Levi Schmillen earned an eighth-place medal in the 3,200 in 10:09.4.
BV’s Justin Buckman threw the shot put 47-0 to place 10th, Fieldcrest’s Chris Leigh finished 11th in the 400 in 54.34 and teammate Dawson White took 13th in the 60 hurdles in 8.87.
