The Peru All-Star team lost twice Saturday to be eliminated from the Little League Softball state tournament in Melrose Park.
In its opener, Peru lost 17-16 to Evergreen Park in seven innings.
Peru fell behind 14-2 and trailed 16-10 entering the sixth inning before rallying to force extra innings.
Kamryn Olson smacked a grand slam and finished with four runs and four RBIs.
Emma Happ also belted a home run and finished with two RBIs and four runs. Kalie Cocanour went 3-for-4 with three runs and a pair of RBIs.
Peru lost 11-1 to Beardstown in its second game to be eliminated from the tournament.
Spring Valley loses at Intermediate state
The Spring Valley Intermediate baseball team lost 18-4 to Warren Park on Sunday in its first game at the state tournament in Alsip.
Spring Valley will face Evergreen Park at 6 tonight in an elimination game. Evergreen Park lost 5-3 to Naperville National on Sunday.
Peru, Mendota to play for 9-10 title
The Peru and Mendota 9-and-10-year-old softball teams will play at 6 tonight for the District 20 title at Strouss Park in Mendota.
Peru reached the final with a 6-1 victory over Mendota on Saturday.
Mendota bounced back with a 7-4 victory over Spring Valley on Sunday to reach the title series.
10-11 District 20 tournament opens
The 10-and-11-year-old District 20 baseball tournament opened with four games over the weekend.
On Saturday, La Salle edged Peru 8-7 and Ottawa American rolled past Ottawa National 17-4.
La Salle and Ottawa American will play at 6 tonight.
On Sunday, Spring Valley cruised past Bi-County 11-2 and Streator routed Mendota 12-2.
Spring Valley and Streator will play at 7:30 tonight.
In the loser’s bracket, Ottawa National and Peru will play at 6 p.m. Tuesday, while Bi-County and Mendota will play at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
