Prep of the Week: Logan Zeman

NT Sports Staff

Name: Logan Zeman

School: La Salle-Peru

Year: Senior

Sport: Track and field

Other sports: Basketball and football

Nicknames: I don’t really have one. If I had one, sometimes coaches will call me Z for short, but it’s not really a nickname.

Superstitions: I don’t have any superstitions, but when it comes to the high jump I feel like I need to do the same routine every time.

What station is on your TV the most? MTV or Comedy Central. ‘Ridiculousness’ is usually what I’m watching if it’s on.

What song or artist is most played on your listening device? I don’t really listen to much music. I’ll listen to what my friends are playing or what’s in the locker room. I don’t usually pick.

What movie never gets old? ‘The Waterboy.’ I watch that movie all the time.
What is your best high school memory outside of sports? Being on the Homecoming and Prom court. I wasn’t king, but I was on the court.

If you could be one celebrity for the day, who would you be? I’d want to be someone very rich and who doesn’t have to worry about much. I’d say Rob Dyrdek. How fun would that be? All he does is skateboard, owns a big jungle gym building, does fun stuff and gets paid.

Last week’s accomplishments: Zeman became the first L-P state champion since Eric Siebert in wrestling in 1993. Zeman was the only Class 2A high jumper of Saturday’s final four to clear 6 feet, 8 inches to win the prestigious medal.

Zeman on his performance: I’m really happy about it and really excited. Obviously, there is no better way to end a season. It feels awesome and a lot of people I see have told me ‘Congratulations’ and ‘Good job.’ People I don’t even know are telling me that, too. It’s very exciting and I like the feeling.

Coach Marty Makransky says: I was really impressed with his ability to focus during the competition. It’s really hard to do that because there are so many people and so many things going around. Even though he was getting to the higher heights and the more difficult jumps, he was still very focused.
