First Team James Carroll, Mendota Year: Junior Position: Guard Season highlights: Nobody in the area scored as much this season as Carroll, who poured in 20.7 points per game. The unanimous All-Big Northern Conference West Division pick also finished second in the area in steals (2.8 per game) and ninth in rebounds (6.6 per game) to lead the Trojans to a 21-9 overall record and an 8-4 league mark.
John Carroll, Ottawa Year: Senior Position: Forward Season highlights: The 2013-14 NT Boys Basketball Player of the Year was a dominant force all season as he led the Pirates to a 24-2 record and an undefeated Northern Illinois Big 12 Confernece West Division title. The NIB 12 West MVP was second in the area in scoring (20.6 per game) and sixth in rebounding (7 per game).
Garrett Duffin, Princeton Year: Junior Position: Forward Season highlights: Duffin was a bright spot during a tough season for the Tigers as he finished top 10 in the area in scoring (17.6 points per game), rebounding (6.7 per game) and steals (2 per game). The All-Three Rivers Conference South Division First-Team pick also averaged 1.9 assists per game and advanced to the state 3-point contest.
Harold Fay, Putnam County Year: Senior Position: Guard Season highlights: Fay led the Panthers to a sectional final for the area’s deepest postseason run. The unanimous All-Tri-County Conference pick also led PC to the TCC Tournament title. He finished third in the area in scoring (19.3 points per game) and 10th in assists (3.2 per game). He also averaged 3.7 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game.
Nathan Helle, Henry Year: Senior Position: Forward Season highlights: The third-year varsity player did a little bit of everything as he led the Mallards to the Tri-County Conference regular season title. He was top 10 in the area in scoring (17.6 points per game), rebounding (7.3 per game) and assists (3.4 per game). The unanimous All-TCC selection helped Henry to a 23-5 overall record.
Second Team Noah Lamboley, La Salle-Peru Year: Senior Position: Guard Season highlights: Lamboley made 83 3-pointers this season and finished as L-P’s career leader in 3-pointers made. He scored 16.9 points per game to finished eighth in the area. The All-NIB 12 West pick also averaged 3.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.3 steals per game.
Parker Neuhalfen, Bureau Valley Year: Junior Position: Guard Season highlights: Neuhalfen scored 18.8 points per game this season, which was fourth in the area and helped put him second on BV’s career scoring list. The unanimous All-TRC North pick also averaged 4.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1 steal per game.
Jarret Olson, St. Bede Year: Sophomore Position: Guard Season highlights: Olson made an impact in his first varsity season as he finished fifth in the area in scoring (17.9 points per game), second in assists (3.8 per game) and fifth in steals (2.4 per game). He was an All-TRC First-Team pick after helping SBA to a 16-13 record.
Jake Schlosser, Henry Year: Senior Position: Guard Season highlights: Schlosser set up his teammates better than anyone in the area this season as he dished out 5.9 per game. The All-TCC First-Team pick also finished top 10 in the area in steals (2.6 per game) and averaged 12.1 points to help Henry to a 7-1 TCC record.
Miguel Villarreal, Hall Year: Senior Position: Guard Season highlights: Villarreal’s knack for driving to the basket helped him average 15.1 points and 3 assists per game. The unanimous All-TRC South selection also averaged 4.6 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game. Villarreal helped the Red Devils to the Colmone Classic title.
Third Team Drew Barth, Fieldcrest Year: Sophomore Position: Guard Season highlights: Barth led a young Knight squad in scoring at 14.8 points per game. He also led the team in rebounds (5 per game), assists (3.4 per game) and steals (1.8 per game) as he helped Fieldcrest to an 18-12 record.
Tommy Johnston, Bureau Valley Year: Junior Position: Forward Season highlights: Johnston nearly averaged a double-double as he put up 14.8 points and 8 rebounds per game, which ranked second in the area. The All-TRC North First-Team pick helped the Storm to a 20-12 overall record.
Evan Kreiser, Putnam County Year: Senior Position: Forward Season highlights: Kreiser was a strong presence inside for the Panthers as he averaged 12.7 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. The All-TCC Second-Team selection helped the Panthers to a 23-9 record, the TCC Tournament and regional titles.
Michael Sypniewski, Marquette Year: Junior Position: Guard Season highlights: Sypniewski facilitated one of the area’s most balanced offenses as he dished out 3.7 assists, which tied for third in the area. The All-TCC Second-Team pick also averaged 12.8 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.6 steals.
Alec Veverka, Putnam County Year: Sophomore Position: Forward Season highlights: In his first varsity season, Veverka led the area in blocks (2.6 per game) and tied for third in rebounds (7.3 per game). The Third-Team All-TCC pick also scored 9.3 points per game to help PC to a 23-9 record.
