Prep of the Week: PC's Evan Kreiser

NT Sports Staff

Name: Evan Kreiser

School: Putnam County

Year: Senior

Sport: Basketball

Nicknames: The team just calls me Ev all the time.

What’s the one song on your listening device no one would think you listen to? “Beauty and the Beast” by Justin Bieber featuring Nicki Minaj because I listen to a lot more country than rap.

If you could be a celebrity for a day, who would you be? Kevin Durant

What movie never gets old? Coach Carter. It has the best story and, even though they finish second, they still win for all that they put into it.

What’s a sport you would like to excel in that you don’t already? Track and field. I did high jump, 100 meters and 200 meters in junior high. I did pretty good in those.

What’s your least favorite chore to do around the house? Clean the dishes.

Last week’s accomplishments: After only scoring six points in the first half of Wednesday’s Class 1A Marquette Regional semifinal against St. Bede, Kreiser scored 13 points in the second half, including nine unanswered points at the start of the third quarter to help Putnam County pull away for the win. He followed up with a similar effort in Friday’s regional title game against Henry as he scored eight of his game’s 12 points in the third quarter to help advance the Panthers to sectionals.

Kreiser on his performance: I just didn’t want our season to end like that so I wanted to come out and try my hardest as much as I could. I know I started the first half struggling a little bit, but I wanted to come out a little better and try harder in the second half.

Coach Josh Nauman says: He has really stepped up, made plays and found a way to help us win. He’s been so good on his (15-foot) jump shot all year and in the St. Bede game he missed five in a row in the first quarter. They were leaving him open and he was getting good looks on a shot he normally hits. I don’t know what it was, he just decided it wasn’t falling or what, but he’s been a lot more aggressive taking it to the hole. He had some great games in the regional.
