Noah Lamboley and Kaleb Jakse each scored 11 points Saturday as the La Salle-Peru boys basketball team earned a 65-64 non-conference victory over Kankakee in La Salle.
The Cavaliers (10-14) made 16-of-18 free throws in the fourth quarter and were 30-of-34 for the game.
Putnam County tops Serena in boys hoops
Michael Weide exploded for a game-high 20 points Friday to lead the Putnam County boys basketball team to a 61-52 victory over Serena in its regular season finale Saturday.
Weide drained four 3-pointers.
Harold Fay added 18 points for the Panthers (20-8), who outscored the Huskers 19-4 in the second quarter to take a 28-13 halftime lead in the non-conference game in Serena.
Ottawa basketball beats DeKalb
The Ottawa boys basketball team outscored DeKalb 22-14 in the fourth quarter Saturday to earn a Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference crossover victory in Ottawa.
The Pirates led 15-13 after the first quarter, but the game was tied at halftime and entering the fourth quarter.
Isaac Gassman scored 18 points and grabbed five rebounds for Ottawa (22-1), while John Carroll had 14 points, five rebounds and two steals and Brett Johnson added 13 points and eight rebounds.
Marquette defeats DePue in TCC game
The Marquette boys basketball team jumped out to a 20-point lead after the first quarter as it cruised to a 63-48 Tri-County Conference victory Saturday in DePue.
Jacob Martini scored a game-high 18 points for Marquette (16-11, 6-2 TCC), while Tyler Verona added 13 points.
Austin Zimmer, Jose Reyes and Jesse Lopez had 10 points each for the Little Giants (8-15, 2-6).
Truchon qualifies for state swimming
Stephen Truchon, who swims for the Ottawa co-op, qualified for the state swimming meet with his performance Saturday at the Rock Island Sectional.
Truchon won the 50-yard freestyle in 22.16 seconds to advance.
Ottawa placed seventh with 121 points. Dunlap won with 300.
