Prep of the Week: Fieldcrest's Tessa Holland

NT Sports Staff

Name: Tessa Holland

School: Fieldcrest

Year: Junior

Sport: Basketball

Nickname: Tess

What’s the song on your listening device no one would think would be on it?: I have Christian music on my iPod. I actually kind of like to listen to it.

What movie never gets old?: Bride Wars.

If you were trapped on an island and there was only one food choice, what would you want it to be?: Plain cheese pizza.

If you could be a celebrity for one day, who would you be?: Probably Carrie Underwood.

What will be the sweet you eat the most during Valentine’s Day?: Definitely ice cream, any kind of ice cream.

Last week’s accomplishments: Holland had a dominant week for Fieldcrest. The junior scored 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds Monday in a 62-30 win against Midland, then she had 20 points and 12 rebounds in a 52-28 victory Thursday against Dee-Mack. Friday against El Paso-Gridley, Holland had 16 points and 12 rebounds in a 50-45 loss that was the completion of a suspended game from Jan. 16. She ended the week by scoring 16 points against Fisher on Saturday.

Holland on her performance: I really try to focus on my rebounding because I like to get a double-double every time and I can usually get the 10 points. It’s the rebounds I have to work for, so I was focusing on my rebounds and with that came the points.

Coach Ron Kreiser says: She’s averaging a double-double on the year. For a high school girl, that’s pretty awesome because to be able to get double digits in boards every night isn’t easy. Very few nights out of the 20-something games we’ve played did she not have 10 or more rebounds. She is all over the floor. She’s running the point, she’s in the post and does an awesome job.
