Area roundup: Trojans rally on lanes

The Mendota boys bowling team out-pinned La Salle-Peru 3,467-3,403 for a non-conference win Wednesday in Mendota.

The Trojans were down by 20 pins after the first two games had been rolled, but a third game surge saw Mendota out-bowl the Cavaliers 1,260-1,176.

Cody Phalen led the Trojans with games of 245, 225 and 176 for a 646 series. Brody Pohl also had a 600-plus series as he finished with a 632 on games of 202, 178 and 258.

The Cavaliers were led by Nathan Stubler, who rolled a 758 series on games of 235, 267 and 256.

John Pohar bowled a 589 series for L-P, while Tyler Zokal finished with a 581.

St. Bede 2,838, Hall 2,670
The Bruins prevailed in a rivalry match Wednesday at the Illinois Valley Super Bowl in Peru as Chris Moore scored a match-high 533 series.

Dominic Sondgeroth also came up big for St. Bede as he rolled a 507 series.
Hall was led by Pete Mautino’s 497 series, while Miguel Marquez bowled a 487 series and Hayden Nielsen pictched in with a 483.

Hall 2,731, St. Bede 1,909
The Lady Red Devils two talented seniors Kaitlyn Padgett and Clarissa Gerrard led Hall’s charge Wednesday in Peru.

Padgett rolled a match-high 671 series on games of 222,206 and 243, while Gerrard finished with a 506 series.

Hall outscored the Lady Bruins 849-572 in the first game and continued to pace St. Bede throughout the matches’ entirety.

Emma Wilke led St. Bede with a high-game of 232 and a team-high 538 series.

Sycamore 2,836, Ottawa 2,801
Hannah Kirby bowled a 526 series for the Lady Pirates, but it wasn’t enough as they lost by 35 pins to Sycamore in a Northern Illinois Big 12 conference match Wednesday.

Ciara Koepke rolled a 488 series for Ottawa, while Mollie Collins added a 481.
