Collin Aimone, Hall Year: Senior Position: Wide receiver Season highlights: The senior was a versatile threat for the Red Devils as he'd line up wide or in the backfield. Aimone caught 24 passes for 452 yards — 18.8 yards per catch — and an area-best eight touchdowns. He was honorable mention all-conference in the Three Rivers South Division.
Damion Allen, La Salle-Peru Year: Senior Position: Returner Season highlights: Allen was one of L-P's best weapons as he returned eight kicks for 306 yards — an average of 38.2 yards per return. Allen returned kicks for touchdowns against Lincoln-Way North and Ottawa. He was named an all-conference receiver in the Northern Illinois Big 12 West Division.
Drew Barth, Fieldcrest Year: Sophomore Position: Quarterback Season highlights: Barth was a dual-threat this year. He was second in the area in passing yards per game (149.3). Barth completed 56.9 percent of his passes and tossed 18 TD passes. He also ran for 440 yards and 11 scores. Barth was named First-Team All-Heart of Illinois Conference.
Mitch Endres, Marquette Year: Senior Position: Offensive line Season highlights: Endres helped pave the way for the area's best rushing attack that averaged 305.8 yards per game. He helped the Crusaders to an 11-1 record and their first quarterfinal appearance since 1994. Endres was named First-Team All-Northeastern Athletic Conference.
Erik Gens, La Salle-Peru Year: Senior Position: Offensive line Season highlights: Gens was a key component of the La Salle-Peru offense. He helped protect Cavalier quarterback Colby Sassano, who was fourth in the area in passing yards per game at 133.9. The 6-foot-2, 235-pound Gens was named all-conference in the Northern Illinois Big 12 West Division.
Jake Griffin, Fieldcrest Year: Junior Position: Wide receiver Season highlights: Griffin was quarterback Drew Barth's top target as he caught a team-best 30 passes for an area-high 600 yards and team-leading seven touchdowns. He averaged 20 yards per catch and 60 receiving yards per game. He was First-Team All-Heart of Illinois Conference.
Sam Halm, St. Bede Year: Junior Position: Wide receiver Season highlights: Halm caught more passes (39) than any other player in the area. He also was second in receiving yards (539) among non-running backs, finishing third overall. Halm grabbed five touchdown passes as he helped the Bruins to a 5-5 record and a Class 3A playoff berth.
Adam Kellen, Mendota Year: Junior Position: Offensive line Season highlights: Kellen helped clear the way for area rusher leader Wyatt Martinson, who averaged 137.4 yards per game and scored 15 touchdowns this season. Kellen was voted to the all-conference team in the Big Northern West Division after helping the Trojans to a 3-6 record.
Jacob Martini, Marquette Year: Senior Position: Running back Season highlights: Martini stepped in for 2012 star Curtiss Johnson and the Crusaders didn't miss a beat at fullback. Martini bulled his way for 1,286 yards and tied for the area lead in rushing touchdowns with 15. He was named First-Team All-Northeastern Athletic Conference.
Wyatt Martinson, Mendota Year: Junior Position: Running back Season highlights: Martinson exploded in his second varsity season as he led the area in rushing at 137.4 yards per game. He also scored 15 rushing touchdowns, which tied for the area lead. Martinson ran for 90 yards or more in six games. He was all-conference in the Big Northern West Division.
Ryan Reeder, Mendota Year: Junior Position: Kicker Season highlights: Reeder gave the Trojans a solid scoring option this year. He made five field goals this season, including kicks of 47, 46 and 39 yards. Reeder booted a 39-yard field goal with 37 seconds remaining to lift the Trojans to a 13-10 victory over Marengo in the season opener.
Jared Rients, Fieldcrest Year: Junior Position: Offensive line Season highlights: The 6-foot-4, 270-pounder helped make way for one of the area's top offenses as the Knights averaged 32.2 points — which was second in the area — 208.7 rushing yards and 149.2 passing yards per game. He was a first-team All-Heart of Illinois Conference.
Justin Shaw, St. Bede Year: Junior Position: Running back Season highlights: Shaw finished top 10 in the area in rushing and receiving. He ran for 80.2 yards per game and nine TDs while catching 31 passes for 56.5 yards per game — which was second in the area — and six scores. He was first-team all-conference in the Three Rivers South Division.
Trevor Urbanski, Hall Year: Senior Position: Offensive line Season highlights: Urbanski was a unanimous all-conference selection in the Three Rivers South Division. He helped block for an offense that had three players rush for 300 yards or more and helped protect NT Offensive Player of the Year Taggart Venegas. Urbanski helped Hall go from 1-8 to 7-4.
Taggart Venegas, Hall Year: Senior Position: Quarterback Season highlights: The NT Offensive Player of the Year made a huge impact in his only season as a Red Devil, helping Hall to its first playoff berth since 2008. He was third in the area in passing yards per game (136.5) and tossed 17 TDs. Venegas could also ran for 316 yards and three touchdowns.
