Area roundup: Princeton adds on to win total

The Princeton volleyball team improved to 23-6 overall and 10-1 in the Three Rivers Conference South Division after rolling past Hall 25-11, 25-17 on Thursday in Spring Valley.

Michelle Kelly had 21 assists, five digs and four points, while Alicia Poss put down seven kills.

Vanessa Olivares had five digs, three kills and three assists for Hall.

Mendota def. Stillman Valley 25-13, 25-19
Elivia Ambler had nine kills, eight points and eight assists Thursday as the Spikers picked up a Big Northern Conference West Division victory in Mendota.

Abby Bromenschenkel added seven kills and a block for Mendota (17-8-1, 8-2 BNC West).

Bureau Valley def. Prophetstown 25-14, 25-23
Lindsay Hoffert had eight points and five kills and Valerie Reuter had seven points and five kills Thursday as the Storm won a Three Rivers Conference North Division match in Prophetstown.

BV is 15-8 overall and 8-4 in the TRC North.

Orion def. St. Bede 25-23, 25-16
Morgan King had team highs of 12 digs, six points and four aces Thursday, but it wasn’t enough as the Lady Bruins lost a Three Rivers Conference South Division match on the road.

Morgan Bosnich added 15 assists for SBA (13-14, 5-5 TRC South).

Newark def. LaMoille-Ohio 25-17, 25-23
Shiela Browning had eight kills, four digs and an ace Thursday as the Lady Lions fell in a battle of Little Ten Conference unbeatens in LaMoille.

Ragen Forbes added 10 digs and four points for L-O (7-1 LTC).

Marquette def. Henry 25-21, 25-20
The Lady Crusaders swept the Lady Mallards on Thursday in a consolation semifinal of the Tri-County Conference Tournament in Varna.

Marquette will play Woodland at 5 p.m. Saturday in the consolation final.

Streator def. Ottawa 26-24, 25-23
Kenzie Rombach had five kills, two blocks and a pair of aces Thursday as the Lady Pirates dropped a Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference West Division match in Streator.

Tayah Guerrero added eight digs for Ottawa (16-11, 4-4 NIB 12 West).

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Moraine Valley def. IVCC 25-19, 25-16, 25-15
Hall graduate Johnna Schultz had team bests of 13 assists and six points Thursday as the Lady Eagles lost a non-conference match on the road.

La Salle-Peru alumna Brianna Huss added eight kills for IVCC (19-10).

BOYS SOCCER
Ottawa 1, Streator 0
Tristan Cunha put in a long shot on an assist from Alex Koziel to lift Ottawa to a Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference West Division victory Thursday in Ottawa.

The Pirates (12-8-1, 5-4-1 NIB 12 West) will face Streator at 7 p.m. Tuesday in a Class 2A Morris Regional semifinal.

Dixon 4, La Salle-Peru 0
The Dukes beat L-P on Thursday in a Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference West Division game at Howard Fellows Stadium.

It was Dixon’s first victory of the season.
