Prep of the Week: Grant Jochums

NT Sports Staff

Name: Grant Jochums

School: Fieldcrest

Year: Junior

Sport: Football

Position: Running back

Nicknames: Rondo

What song is on your Ipod that no one would think would be on it? “Take it on the Run” or “Roll with the Changes” by REO Speedwagon.

If you could switch places with any celebrity who would it be? Rajon Rondo because he is my favorite athlete.

If you could travel to just one place in the world, where would it be? Boston, I’ve never been there. I’m a diehard Celtics fan.

Is there one exotic food you’ve never tried, but would like to? Crocodile, oh yeah, I’d try it.

If there was one sport you could excel in, that you don’t already, what would it be? Hockey. I’ve never played ice hockey, but I’ve played hockey.

Last week’s accomplishments: The junior tore up the field and the Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley defense for 327 yards and four touchdowns in a 34-20 Fieldcrest win Friday. The victory improved the Knights to a playoff clinching 6-1 overall record and 5-0 in the Heart of Illinois Conference.

Jochums on his performance last week: My performance was pretty good but our blocking was incredible. The entire team was blocking.

Coach Nate Lorton says: His performance was amazing. The guys up front got the job done and he didn’t let up. He just kept rolling, we kept feeding him the rock and he just kept looking forward and going. Grant is a throw back player. He’s  hard-nosed, and gets after it. That’s what we love about him down here.
