Henry freshman Jake Kennedy shot a 4-over-par 76 on Monday at Harrison Park Golf Course in Danville to tie for fifth place at the Class 1A Bismark-Henning Sectional and earn a trip to this weekend’s IHSA state meet.
Kennedy is the only area boy to qualify for state in any class. He will play Friday and Saturday at Prairie Vista Golf Course in Bloomington.
Fieldcrest senior Jordan Cochran did not advance.
La Salle-Peru did not advance any golfers out of the Class AA Springfield Sacred Heart Griffin Sectional on Monday.
Junior Jackie Somolski shot a 114, while classmate Lauren Gunia finished with a 120 at Pipers Glen Golf Course.
Princeton did not advance as a team nor qualify any individual golfers for state Monday out of the Class A Monmouth United Sectional at Gibson Woods Golf Course.
The Tigresses carded a 417 to place 11th among the 12 teams.
Sophia Suarez led Princeton with a 95. Also scoring for PHS were Audra Reidner (103), Arraia Hicks (104) and Julie Miller (115).
Marquette senior Dani Aurit placed eighth in 18:08 on Monday at the Amboy Columbus Day Invitational to help the Lady Crusaders to an area-best fifth-place finish with 244 points.
Wheaton Academy won with 116. Amboy-LaMoille was 13th with 385, Fieldcrest was 18th with 457, Bureau Valley was 24th with 542 and Mendota was 28th with 701.
Aurit’s sister, Paige, finished 60th in 20:05.
Maria Baldwin led Fieldcrest with an area-best seventh place in 18:01, while Megan Grady led A-L by finishing ninth in 18:16.
Henry-Midland’s Jillian Monier finished 13th in 18:27 and Princeton’s Zoe Mead was 27th in 19:00. Bureau Valley’s top finisher was Katelyn Johnson, who finished 92nd in 20:42, while Ashlyn Haage led Putnam County by finishing 98th in 20:47.
In the boys race, Bureau Valley was the top area team in 11th with 300 points. Winnebago won with 91. Henry-Midland was 16th with 459, Fieldcrest was 17th with 465, Hall was 20th with 545, Marquette was 21st with 547 and Marquette was 26th with 647.
H-M’s Alex Pettis was the top area finisher as he placed sixth in 15:25. Levi Schmillen paced Fieldcrest with a ninth-place finish in 15:29.
John Weissensel led Marquette by finishing 31st in 16:01, while Daniel Trone was 39th in 16:15 to lead the Storm.
Putnam County’s Noe Flores was 56th in 16:39, Hall’s Sandro Aldana was 83rd in 17:11, Mendota’s Lukas Brandner was 96th in 17:29, A-L’s Ben Hosto was 113th in 17:48 and DePue’s Miguel Lopez was 151st in 18:33.

Tessa Holland had nine kills, six digs and three aces Monday to lead the Knights to a Heart of Illinois Conference rout in Minonk.
Gracie Wiesenhofer added 13 assists for Fieldcrest (21-2, 9-1 HOIC).

The Tigresses claimed four singles matches and two doubles matches Monday in a home victory.
Jen O’Neil won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, Ellie Bonucci earned a 6-0, 6-3 victory at No. 3 singles, Brittany Krohn was a 6-4, 1-6, 10-2 winner at No. 5 and Emma Reidner won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 6.
In doubles, Bonucci and Reidner won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2, while Lindsay Hartwig and Megan Smith were 6-4, 6-2 winners at No. 3.
