Roundup: Kennedy, Cochran advance to boys golf sectional

Henry freshman Jake Kennedy and Fieldcrest senior Jordan Cochran advanced out of the Class 1A El Paso-Gridley Regional on Tuesday.

Kennedy shot a 74 at El Paso Golf Club to finish second among individuals not on a qualifying team, while Cochran carded an 83.

The local pair will compete Monday in the Bismark-Henning Sectional.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
DeKalb def. La Salle-Peru 25-20, 22-25, 25-23
The Lady Cavaliers suffered their first loss of the season Tuesday in a Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference crossover match in DeKalb.

St. Bede def. Sherrard 25-13, 25-21
Morgan Bosnich had 15 assists, six kills, six digs, five points and three aces to lead the Lady Bruins to a Three Rivers Conference South Division victory Tuesday in Peru.

Morgan King had 22 digs and Olivia Mueller added seven kills for St. Bede (12-12, 4-3 TRC South).

Hall def. Rockridge 25-21, 25-19
The Lady Red Devils earned their first Three Rivers Conference South Division win of the season Tuesday in Spring Valley.

Brooke Keegan had 13 assists and four kills for Hall (4-24, 1-7 TRC South), while Vanessa Olivares added eight assists, five kills and four digs.

Putnam County def. Stark County 25-17, 25-21
Annie Miller had 18 digs Tuesday as she helped the Lady Panthers to a non-conference victory in Granville.

Taylr Erjasvek had six kills, six points, five digs, four aces and a block for PC (18-2-1), while Paige Griffith added 10 points, six assists, three digs, two kills and an ace.

LaMoille-Ohio def. Leland-Earlville 25-20, 25-15
Shiela Browning put down 13 kills to go along with two digs, two assists and an ace to lead the Lady Lions to victory in the Little Ten Conference Tournament quarterfinals in Leland.

No. 2-seeded L-O advances to face No. 3-seeded Somonauk in a semifinal at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Rae Schultz had 13 assists for the Lady Lions (14-4).

Brooke Buczkiewicz had 12 digs for the Lady Panthers (3-17-1).

Fieldcrest def. Flanagan-Cornell 25-14, 25-9
Tessa Holland had six kills, six blocks and three aces Tuesday to help the Knights to a Heart of Illinois Conference victory in Minonk.

Gracie Wiesenhofer added 11 assists and seven digs for Fieldcrest (19-2, 7-1 HOIC).

Rock Falls def. Mendota 25-19, 25-13
The Spikers suffered their first Big Northern Conference West Division loss of the season Tuesday in Rock Falls.

Elivia Ambler had 13 digs, while Brooke Carroll added 11 assists for Mendota (16-7-1, 7-1 BNC West).

Erie def. Bureau Valley 25-20, 12-25, 25-19
Lindsey Hoffert had 10 kills, four digs, two aces and a block Tuesday as the Storm fell in a Three Rivers Conference North Division match in Erie.

Sydney Lebahn added 24 assists for BV (14-7, 7-3 TRC North).

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
IVCC def. Black Hawk East 25-17, 25-12, 23-25, 25-16
Marquette graduate Jessica Jessen led the team in digs (24), points 910) and aces (three) Tuesday to lead the Lady Eagles to a Arrowhead Conference victory in Oglesby.

Ottawa graduate Lisa Lukkari had a team-high 20 assists, while Sarah Lushina put down 13 kills for IVCC (18-9, 6-3 Arrowhead).

GIRLS TENNIS
La Salle-Peru 3, Mendota 2
The Lady Cavaliers took one singles match and two doubles matches Tuesday to edge the Lady Trojans in a non-conference match in Mendota.

Tara Ketner won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles for L-P, while Katie Wellner and Anna Konczak at No. 1 and Katherine Kaszynski and Jena Argubright at No. 2 picked up doubles victories.

L-P ends its dual season with a 10-3 record.

Whitney Lewis earned a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 1 singles for Mendota, while Mallorie defore and Mallary Phalen were 6-4, 6-2 winners at No. 3 doubles.

Princeton 5, Kewanee 0
The Tigresses swept a match Tuesday in Kewanee.

Jen O’Neil won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, and Courtney Webb was a 6-2, 6-0 winner at No. 2 singles.

In doubles, Laura Behrends and Brittany Krohn earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 1, Emma Reidner and Ellie Bonucci won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 and Lindsay Hartwig and Megan Smith were 6-2, 6-0 winners at No. 3.

Newman 7, St. Bede 2
The Lady Bruins claimed two doubles matches Tuesday in a loss in Sterling.

Maritsa Hermosillo and Molly Considine earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 1 doubles, while Mercedes Brayton and Lauren Silfies won 7-5, 7-5 at No. 3 doubles.

BOYS SOCCER
Hinckley-Big Rock 3, Earlville-Leland 0
The No. 6-seeded Red Raiders lost to the No. 2-seeded Royals in a Little Ten Conference Tournament semifinal Tuesday in Hinckley.

Stephen Riskedal made 11 saves for E-L (7-11-2), which plays Serena at 5:45 p.m. Thursday in the third-place match.
