River Valley senior Nathan Helle averaged 22.6 yards per carry Friday as the Falcons became playoff eligible for the first time with a 46-8 victory over West Prairie in Varna.
Helle carried the ball nine times for 203 yards and three touchdowns in the Lincoln Trail Conference victory.
Helle put the Falcons on the board early with a 59-yard TD run with 11:10 left in the first quarter. He added a 5-yard score with 3:18 left in the first and a 78-yard touchdown with 3:50 left in the third.
RV quarterback Tom Miller’s lone completion went for a 65-yard touchdown to Evan Koehler in the second quarter.
Austin Courtway had a 5-yard touchdown run for the Falcons (5-1), Blake Bodie recorded a safety and Kyle Henderson added a 13-yard TD run and a 23-yard field goal.
Ben Poignant had 17 tackles, including nine solo stops, for a River Valley defense that limited the Cyclones to 206 total yards.
Fieldcrest 47, Deer Creek-Mackinaw 6
Sophomore quarterback Drew Barth had another huge night for Fieldcrest as the Knights became playoff eligible with their fifth consecutive victory.
Barth completed 13-of-19 passes for 249 yards and four touchdowns while also running eight times for 90 yards and a score as the Knights earned the Heart of Illinois Conference victory in Mackinaw.
Jack McDonough caught TD passes of 4 and 25 yards, Billy Moline and Jake Griffin each had a touchdown reception and Grant Jochums racked up 93 yards and two touchdowns on the ground for Fieldcrest (5-1, 4-0 HOIC).
Bureau Valley 56, Morrison 26
The Storm kept their playoff hopes alive with a Three Rivers Conference North Division rout Friday in Morrison.
Bureau Valley scored 36 points in the second quarter to take a 44-14 halftime lead.
In the second quarter, Tommy Johnston ran for touchdowns of 9 and 10 yards, Tucker Schoff scored on a 12-yard run and Parker Neuhalfen scampered for a 35-yard TD run and returned an interception 60 yards for a score.
Schoff also scored on a 2-yard run in the first quarter, while Neuhalfen had a 5-yard TD run in the third quarter. Will Konneck added a 40-yard touchdown run with 1:32 left in the third quarter to cap the scoring for BV (2-4, 1-2 TRC North).
Fulton 35, Princeton 6
The Tigers fell behind 35-0 in a Three Rivers Conference crossover Friday in Princeton.
Princeton’s lone score came when quarterback Jacob Reinhardt connected with Zach Friel for a 33-yard touchdown with 8:56 left in the game.
Reibhardt completed 9-of-17 passes for 78 yards and ran the ball seven times for 30 yards for the Tigers (0-6).
Erie-Prophetstown 26, Amboy-LaMoille 7
Liam Ohlendorf tossed a 44-yard pass to Damon Quest with 2:31 left in the third quarter for the Clippers’ lone score in a Three Rivers Conference North Division loss in Amboy.
E-P led 6-0 at halftime.
Jason Bontz ran for 104 yards for A-L (2-4, 2-1 TRC North).
IVCC 9, Oakton 0
The Lady Eagles wrapped up the regular season with a sweep Friday in La Salle.
La Salle-Peru graduate April Kutz won 8-3 at No. 1 singles, while Ottawa alumna Karly Rosencrans earned an 8-2 victory at No. 2 singles.
Kutz and Rosencrans paired up to win 8-2 at No. 1 doubles.
At No. 3 singles, Ottawa graduate Kayla Guenther was an 8-0 winner at No. 3 singles and teamed up with Bianca Sutton to win 8-4 at No. 2 doubles.
Kaylee Sienza won 8-4 at No. 4 singles for IVCC (6-2), while the Lady Eagles also received three forfeits.
IVCC won its two matches Friday at the Kankakee Tournament.
The Lady Eagles beat the host team in three before topping Rend Lake 25-19, 25-19, 25-16.
IVCC wraps up the tournament with three matches today.
