Roundup: IVCC volleyball loses to Sauk Valley

Hall graduate Johnna Schultz had 24 assists, 10 points and an ace Wednesday, but it wasn’t enough as the IVCC volleyball team lost 25-20, 23-25, 25-20, 21-25, 15-13 to Sauk Valley in an Arrowhead Conference match in Oglesby.

Marquette alumna Jessica Jessen led the team in digs (17) and aces (two), while St. Bede graduate Kayla MacDavitt added eight kills and five blocks for the Lady Eagles (13-8, 5-3 Arrowhead).

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Ottawa def. Sandwich 25-14, 25-17
Jess Wignes had six digs and four kills Wednesday as the Lady Pirates earned a non-conference victory in Ottawa.

Kenzie Rombach had five kills, two blocks, two digs and an ace, while Tayah Guerrero added seven assists and three aces for the Lady Pirates (15-9).

CROSS COUNTRY
At Oregon
Bethany Wohrley ran a 23:28 to place 13th on Wednesday in a seven-team meet.

The Lady Trojans scored 131 team points to place fifth. Boylan won with 21 points. Boylan’s Delaney Appino won the race in 20:21.

In the boys meet, Mendota placed fifth with 113 points. Boylan won with 40 points.

Lukas Brandner paced the Trojans by finishing 18th in 19:23. Hiawatha’s P.J. Nordgren won with a 16:54.
