The Illinois Valley YMCA is holding a sports intramural league sponsored by the Youth Service Bureau beginning Thursday.

The league is 3:30-5:30 p.m. every Thursday and will include basketball, dodgeball, kickball and more.

The league is free.

Thursday there will be free food and drinks. The sport Thursday is basketball.

Mendota Booster Club fundraiser
Members of the Mendota High School Booster Club are sponsoring Homecoming Cash this week.

The club will sell 50/50 tickets during the boys soccer game tonight, the girls tennis match and volleyball match Thursday and the football game Friday.

Proceeds will benefit Mendota athletics.

PHS golf food drive
The Princeton golf teams are collecting food and money donations for Buddy Bags during the Princeton-Fulton football game Friday.

Buddy Bags is a not-for-profit organization working to address childhood hunger for students of Princeton Elementary school districts, the Malden school district, St. Louis School, the Christian Academy and Princeton High School.

Requested non-perishable donations include canned meats, soups and pasta, fruits and juices, breakfast items such as small boxed cereal, breakfast bars or pop tarts and snacks such as raisins, pudding or jello cups, pretzels, chips or crackers.

Everyone who brings a food or monetary donation will receive a free bag of popcorn.

Lizzie’s Lounge Golf Outing
Lizzie’s Lounge Golf Outing is Oct. 5 at Spring Creek Golf Course in Spring Valley.
Registration is at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start at 10 a.m.
The fee is $60, which includes green fees, 18 holes of golf with a cart, prizes, drink tickets and dinner.

Proceeds benefit Oglesby Marine Corps League and Shop with a Cop.

L-P vs. Streator football Cops 4 Cancer fundraiser
The La Salle-Peru and Streator football teams are partnering for a Cops 4 Cancer fundraiser during their game Oct. 11 at Howard Fellows Stadium.

There will be L-P/Streator Cops 4 Cancer T-shirts for sale as well as a Jeff Perry Buick GMC punt, pass and kick contest and raffle items during the game.

There also is a Cavs Concert for Cops 4 Cancer at 5 p.m. Oct. 12 at Gun Smoke Grill at Cedar Creek Ranch located at 249 E. Rt. 71 in Cedar Point. The concert will feature Dewey Oxburder with special guest Cody Calkins.

Tickets to the concert are $5. They will be on sale at the game Friday or at the door.

Proceeds from both events will be donated to Cops 4 Cancer.

Fieldcrest-Ridgeview volleyball fundraiser
The Oct. 15 volleyball match between Fieldcrest and Ridgeview in Colfax will be a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.

Each team will sell T-shirts through the week of the event. T-shirts are $12.

There will be raffles and a chance to win pizza by participating in a serving challenge between the junior varsity and varsity matches. Chances are $1 each or six for $5.

Halloween Hustle 5K
Ladd Community Consolidated School is holding a Halloween Hustle 5K Run/Walk on Oct. 26 at the school, which is located at 232 E. Cleveland St. in Ladd.

Registration is from 8-8:45 a.m. and the race begins at 9 a.m.

The entry fee is $20 if registered by Oct. 16. After Oct. 16, the fee is $25 for participants 14 and older and $10 for 13 and younger.

Proceeds will benefit the Ladd Community Education and Enrichment Foundation.

Adult flag football league
An adult flag football league is holding an informational meeting Oct. 7.

The league is for players ages 18 and older. It is 7-on-7 with 12-man teams.

Peru BB Gun Club
The Peru Police Department is sponsoring a BB Gun Club for boys and girls ages 10-14 who are residents of Peru.

Participation is free. The number of participants will be limited to 80.

The starting date is Nov. 12 and runs through February. The club will take place at 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays in the basement of city hall.

Forms and rules may be picked up at city hall.
