Roundup: Phalen medals, leads Mendota boys golf to victory

Mendota’s Cody Phalen shot a medalist 39 on Monday at Prairie View Golf Club in Byron to lead the Trojans to a 161-217 victory over Stillman Valley in a Big Northern Conference match.

Mark Prescott carded a 40 and Jaron Robinson and Colton Saylor each added a 41 for MHS (16-4, 10-3 BNC).

La Salle-Peru 177, Rochelle 179
Kyle Hanck shot a team-low 42 on Monday as the Cavaliers earned a Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference crossover victory at Senica’s Oak Ridge Golf Club in La Salle.

At McNabb
Putnam County’s Mitch Aimone carded a team-best 44 on Monday to help the Panthers finish second in a Tri-County Conference triangular at Edgewood Park Golf Club.

The Panthers finished with a 194 to finish behind Midland (183) and ahead of Henry (202).

Also scoring for PC were Christian Charbonneau (49), Jon Mattern (50) and Nate Ward (51).

Henry’s Jake Kennedy shot a 40 to tie for medalist honors with Midland’s Jeff Beaver.

Rounding out the scores for the Mallards were Christian Dzekunkas (53), Jared Smith (54) and Connor Smith (55).

Ottawa 163, Morris 172
Ottawa’s Carter Piercy shot a medalist 37 on Monday to lead the Pirates to victory in a Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference crossover match in Ottawa.

Blake Johnson shot a 41 for Ottawa (6-3), while Ben Calkins had a 42 and Dane Lehr added a 43.

At Kewanee
Bureau Valley’s Ryan Young carded a 42 on Monday as the Storm finished third in a Three Rivers Conference triangular at Kewanee Dunes Golf Course.

The Storm carded 194 strokes to finish behind Erie (188) and Wethersfield (190).
Also scoring for BV were Jacob Heidenreich (47), Logan Twidell (50) and Harrison Brousseau (55).

Princeton 197, Mid-County 215
Arraia Hicks shot a medalist 45 to lead the Tigresses to a non-conference victory Monday at Oak Run Golf Course in Dahinda.

Sophia Suarez carded a 47, Audra Reidner had a 50 and Julie Miller and Sarah Crowe each added a 55.

LaMoille-Ohio def. Lowpoint-Washburn 25-10, 25-14
Rae Schultz had 12 points, eight assists, two aces and a dig Monday to help the Lady Lions to a non-conference victory in LaMoille.

Erika Zimmerlein added seven kills and four points for L-O (11-4).

Plano def. Leland-Earlville 25-19, 25-11
Alexis Maxwell had 13 digs and seven kills Monday as the Lady Panthers fell in a non-conference match in Plano.

Princeton 3, Morris 3
The Tigers fell behind by two goals in the second half, but Jacob Estrada scored a pair of goals in the final 9:34 to help Princeton earn a tie in the non-conference game in Tiskilwa.

Princeton’s first goal came on an own goal from Morris.

Lucas Bauer made four saves for PHS (10-2-5).

Coal City 3, St. Bede 1
Maritsa Hermosillo won 6-4, 3-6, 10-3 at No. 1 singles for the Lady Bruins’ lone victory Monday in a non-conference loss in Peru.
