Roundup: L-P tennis beats St. Bede

The La Salle-Peru girls tennis team beat St. Bede 3-2 for the second time this season behind three doubles victories.

At No. 1 doubles, Katie Wellner and Anna Konczak won 6-2, 6-2, Katherine Kaszynski and Jena Argubright were 6-0, 6-2 victors at No. 2 and at No. 3, Bre Aubry and Oliva Pearson earned a 6-0, 6-0 win.

For St. Bede, Rachel Dose won 3-6, 6-2, 10-4 at No. 1 singles, while Laura Faletti was a 7-5, 6-4 winner at No. 2.

Morris 5, Mendota 0
The Lady Trojans dropped all five matches Thursday as they lost a non-conference contest in Mendota.

At Spring Creek
St. Bede’s Jarret Olson shot a 38 on Thursday at Spring Creek Golf Course to earn medalist honors and lead the Bruins to victory in a four-team meet.

The Bruins carded a 164 to beat Morrison (169), Seneca (177) and Fulton (179).
Also scoring for St. Bede were Joe Dudek (40), Jack Kunkel (42) and Anthony Truckenbrod (44).

At Ottawa
Ottawa’s Dane Lehr shot a medalist 37 on Thursday to lead the Pirates to a triangular victory over La Salle-Peru and Mendota.

The Pirates carded a 163 to beat the Trojans (171) and the Cavaliers (187).
Also scoring for Ottawa were Carter Piercy (41), Ben Calkins (41) and Blake Johnson (44).

Marquette def. Henry 25-15, 25-15
The Lady Crusaders picked up a Tri-County Conference victory Thursday in Ottawa.
Bailey McGrogan led Marquette with team highs of 12 points, 10 assists, seven aces and three blocks, while Kendall Kaufmann added four kills for the Lady Cru (7-2, 3-0 TCC).

Amber Kereta led the Lady Mallards (3-7, 0-2 TCC) with five digs, three aces and two kills.

Bureau Valley def. Morrison 25-27, 25-23, 25-19
The Storm outlasted the Mustangs to earn a Three Rivers Conference North Division win Thursday in Morrison.

Carlie Bickett led BV (8-3, 4-1 TRC North) with 11 points, seven kills, four blocks, three digs and three aces, while Sydney Lebahn had 31 assists, 10 points and two aces and Lindsey Hoffert put down 13 kills.

Sherrard def. Hall 25-12, 25-15
Brooke Keegan had five assists and two aces Thursday as the Lady Red Devils dropped a Three Rivers Conference South Division match on the road.

Elle Herrmann added four kills and a block for Hall.

Sterling def. Ottawa 25-15, 25-20
Jill Wignes had eight digs and seven assists Thursday as the Lady Pirates fell in a Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference West Division match on the road.

Jordan Hayne added five kills, five digs and an ace for Ottawa (12-8, 1-1 NIB 12 West).

Amboy def. Leland-Earlville 25-19, 27-25
Alexis Maxwell had 11 digs and six kills Thursday as the Lady Panthers lost a non-conference match in Amboy.

Carissa Miller added 11 assists for L-E (3-11-1).

Deer Creek-Mackinaw def. Fieldcrest 25-22, 25-18
Kaitlin Petersen put down 12 kills and Gracie Wiesenhofer had 10 assists Thursday as the Knights fell in a Heart of Illinois Conference match against the defending Class 1A state champion on the road.

Geneseo 9, La Salle-Peru 0
The Cavaliers dropped a Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference West Division game on the road.
