Golf roundup: Princeton girls edge L-P by a stroke

Princeton’s Julie Miller sank a 4-foot breaking putt on Hole No. 18 on Monday to break 50 for the first time and secure a 196-197 victory over La Salle-Peru at Chapel Hill Golf Course in Princeton.

Sophia Suarez led the Tigresses with a 46, while Miller and Audra Reidner each had a 49. Arraia Hicks rounded out the scoring with a 52.

L-P’s Rachel Gunia shot a 45 to earn medalist honors.

Putnam County 216, Henry 268
Carly Gonet carded a 47 on Monday to earn medalist honors and lead the Lady Panthers to a Tri-County Conference victory at Edgewood Park Golf Club in McNabb.
Tiffany Lequia had a 60 to lead Henry.

At Gibson City
Fieldcrest’s Taylor Sullivan shot a 51 on Monday to help the Knights to a Heart of Illinois Conference triangular victory at Railside Golf Course.

Fieldcrest finished with 214 strokes to beat Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley (229) and Tri-Valley (232).

At Spring Valley
Pete Mautino carded a medalist 37 to lead Hall to a Three Rivers Conference triangular victory Monday at Spring Creek Golf Course.

The Red Devils finished with 170 strokes to beat Amboy-LaMoille (176) and Rockridge (191).

Also scoring for Hall were Nick Scheri (43), Ryan Ott (44) and Matt Hoscheid (46).

Mendota 168, Marengo 178
Jaron Robinson shot a medalist 37 to lead the Trojans to a Big Northern Conference victory Monday at Marengo Ridge Golf Club.

Cody Phalen and Colton Saylor each had a 43 for Mendota, while Mark Prescott added a 45.

Morris 162, La Salle-Peru 181
Kyle Hanck and Tommy Somolski each had a 43 as the Cavaliers dropped a Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference match Monday at Morris Country Club.

Dixon 173, Ottawa 181
Dane Lehr shot a 42 on Monday to lead the Pirates as they lost a Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference match Monday in Dixon.
