Cross country roundup: Baldonado takes Oregon Invite

Hall’s Al Baldonado ran the 3.05-mile course in 16:30 on Saturday to win the Oregon Invitational.

Two other area runners placed in the top 10 with Henry-Midland’s Alex Pettis taking fourth in 16:51 and Bureau Valley’s Ryan Raylor finishing 10th in 17:30.

Noe Flores led Putnam County by placing 24th in 18:31, Ben Hosto paced Amboy-LaMoille by taking 36th in 19:13, Alex Harriott was Mendota’s top finisher by taking 61st in 21:00, DePue’s Hector Madrigal finished 68th in 21:26 and Princeton’s Alex Biggs was 85th in 22:27.

No team scores were kept.

In the girls race, Henry-Midland’s Jillian Monier ran the 3.05-mile course in 21:10 to place eighth.

The senior was the only area girl to finish in the top 10.

Teammate Ronna Pettis placed 11 in 21:33, while Princeton’s Zoe Mead was 12 in 21:44.

Jennifer Popovich led Amboy-LaMoille by placing 28 in 22:51, Gillian Brown paced Mendota by finishing 42 in 23:56, DePue’s Adilene Gavina took 52 in 24:35.

Putnam County’s Ashlyn Haage finished 62 in 25:29 and Bureau Valley’s Riley Francis was 63 in 25:39.
