The Ottawa girls tennis team finished with 20 team points Saturday to place fifth among eight teams and its own invitational.
The Lady Pirates were led by singles players Molly Angell and Carly Charbonneau, who each placed third.
At No. 1 singles, Angell beat Geneseo’s Michelle Legatzke 6-4, 6-2 in the third-place match, while Charbonneau defeated Minooka’s Lilly Benig 2-6, 6-4, 10-4 in the No. 2 singles third-place match.
IVCC 7, College of DuPage 2
The Lady Eagles won five singles matches and a pair of doubles matches Sunday to win its season opener.
Winning at singles for IVCC were La Salle-Peru graduate April Kutz at No. 1, Ottawa alumna Karly Rosencrans at No. 2 and Ottawa graduate Kayla Guenther at No. 3. The Lady Eagles won by forfeit at No. 5 and No. 6 singles.
In doubles, Kutz and Rosencrans won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1,while IVCC received a forfeit win at No. 3.
