Golf roundup: L-P girls place third in Rock Falls

Kalie Sudaj carded a 99 on Saturday at Rock River Golf and Pool in Rock Falls to lead the La Salle-Peru girls golf team to a third-place finish in the Class AA portion of the Rocket Invitational.

The Lady Cavaliers recorded 419 strokes to finish behind Moline (362) and Galesburg (367).

Rounding out the scoring for L-P were Rachel Gunia (102), Jackie Somolski (107) and Lauren Gunia (111).

In the Class A portion of the event, St. Bede senior Gabby Mendoza carded an 89 to place fifth.

In the team standings, Princeton was fifth with 425 strokes and the Lady Bruins were eighth with 429.

Sophia Suarez and Audra Reidner each shot a 100 to lead the Tigresses, while Arraia Hicks had a 101 and Sara Crowe added a 124.

After Mendoza, St. Bede had a 106 from Sydney Eustice, a 113 from Aiko Mendoza and a 121 from Tess Montez.

BOYS
At Sandwich
Ottawa scored 116 points in a staple ford scoring system to repeat as Sandwich Invitational champions Saturday.

Dane Lehr led the Pirates with a second-place finish with 32 points.

Blake Johnson and Connor Soenksen tied for fifth with 25 points, Ben Calkins was 10th with 10 points, Carter Piercy had 18 points and Brad Bukantis added 13.

At Byron
Princeton’s Zach Hicks shot an 81 on Saturday to place third individually and lead the Tigers to a third-place team finish at the Byron Tiger Invitational.

Princeton finished with a 362.

Rounding out the scores for the Tigers were Ian Nichols (85), Colby Robbins (98) and Miles Rose (105).
