The 2014 championship will “not” be an open event. At that time, teams must rank in the top 25 in the Team of the Year points standings to qualify. The top five teams in the Team of the Year point’s standings will receive a free entry to the championship.

“The payout for the championship will be greater than 200 percent, event organizer Adam Sandor says. “You must fish and or pay for all 4 qualifying events to be eligible for the championship.”

There will be mandatory $25 IWT Membership fee per angler. $10 of it covers Spring Valley Walleye Club membership. The balance will go into a fund for the two-day championship. … Tickets will be available Sept. 1 and can be purchased at Hennepin Marine or from Bill Guerrini, Scott Trumpinski or Adam Sandor.

Entry fee will remain the same at $200 per team per event. All entries must be received six days prior to each event or a $50 late fee will be added.

The Big Fish Pot will be increased to $20 per team and will pay three spots.

Illinois Valley Catfish Trail has wrapped up its season points race, but the group still has two informal tournaments left.

Big V’s (Ryan Vecchia) tournament was Aug. 18, and then IVCT’s Kid’s Catfishing Tournament for children ages 18 and younger with an adult) will be 6 a.m.-noon Sunday, Aug. 25 on the Illinois River at Barto Landing in Spring Valley. Lunch will be served afterward.
