Roundup: Jenkins leads L-P baseball past Streator

The La Salle-Peru boys baseball team picked up a 10-0 win over Streator Monday in Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference West Division play at Streator.

Kyle Jenkins picked up the win on the mound to advance to 4-0 on the season.
Adam Happ went 2-for-2 with a pair of walks and three runs scored for the Cavaliers, while Kyle Rothrock was 2-for-3 at the plate for L-P with three RBIs.

El Paso-Gridley 5, St. Bede 4
The Bruins fell for the first time this season in a close non-conference contest Monday at the Academy.

Austin Schwab had a single, double and RBI for the Academy. Brad Groleau added a pair of hits and Jake Postula had a double.

Brandon Pietrowski was charged the loss for St. Bede (9-1) after giving up three runs over four innings.

Serena 9, Earlville-Leland 3
Nicholas Brunswick was 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored for E-L, but it wasn’t enough as the Red Raiders (1-8, 1-5 LTC) fell to the Bobcats in the Little Ten Conference defeat Monday in Serena.

La Salle-Peru 8, Princeton 0
Brittany Zawacki pitched seven scoreless innings and the Lady Cavaliers capitalized on five PHS errors as L-P picked up the non-conference win Monday at Veterans Park in Peru.

Haley Wren was 2-for-4 with a run scored for L-P, which broke the game open with a four-run fourth.

Serena 5, Earlville-Leland 4 (9 innings)
The Lady Red Raiders came up short in extra innings to suffer their first loss in LTC play Monday in Serena.

Tarin Duffey was the lone E-L player to register multiple hits as she finished 2-for-5 at the plate with a triple and RBI. Kristina Morsovillo was 1-for-3 with two runs scored, a triple and RBI, as well.

Jasmine Kerley was charged the loss after allowing eight hits over her nine innings of work with 11 strikeouts.

At Monmouth
The La Salle-Peru girls track team won Monday in a seven-team meet Monday in Monmouth.

Megan Krolak swept the distance races with wins in the 1,600 meter (5:49) and 3,200 meter (11:55).

Hailey Booker added a win in the 100, Abby Coutre was victorious in the 100 hurdles, and Jenna Argubright lept to a win the high jump.

The Lady Cavaliers took 3-of-4 relays at the event, with wins in the 800, 1,600, and 3,200 relays.

At Manlius
Host Bureau Valley finished third with 54.5 points in a quadrangular with meet winner Kaneland (104), Cambridge (58.5) and West Carroll (54) Monday in Manlius.

Regan Weidner picked up a victory in the 3,200 (12:51) for the Storm, Lindsey Hoffert won the 400 (1:04.8), and finished second in the long jump (15-9), and Krista Naaktgeboren was victorious in the pole vault with a clearance of 6-6.

IVCC 19-17, Elgin 9-6
The Eagles soared to a pair of lopsided wins Monday in Elgin.

Katie Nauman earned the win pitching the opener and helped her own cause at the plate with a 3-for-4, four RBI outing. T.J. Chapman also registered four RBIs and went 3-for-5 at the dish with a double.

Nauman kept up the hot hitting in the second victory with a 5-for-5 showing at the plate that included a double and two RBIs. Taylor Schmidt also had a pair of RBIs in the win, while Paige Hill picked up the win on the rubber.

Kishwaukee 6-10, IVCC 5-4
The Eagles lost both games of a doubleheader Monday in Arrowhead Conference action at Malta.

Brandon Urbance was charged the loss in the opener, while Chris Fields fell in defeat on the mound in the second contest.

Wes Hall was a bright spot for IVCC in the 10-4 second-game loss as he went 3-for-4 at the plate with a pair of runs scored and a double.
