Stephanie Wilson went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and three RBIs Thursday to help the Putnam County softball team to a 6-3 victory over Newark in a non-conference road game.
Annie Miller went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI, while Monica Monroe was 3-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI.
Nikki Mertel earned the win in the circle. She had five strikeouts and two walks.
The Lady Panthers (2-1) trailed 3-2 entering the seventh inning but scored four times in the final frame.

Lady Red Devil lead-off hitter Deidra Whightsil went 4-for-5 with a triple and three runs Thursday as Hall cruised to a non-conference victory in Earlville.
Kylie Whightsil was 3-for-4 with a triple, a walk and a pair of runs for the Lady Red Devils, who scored six runs in the first two inning.
Heidi Nielsen earned the win for Hall.
Julie Musich went 1-for-3 with a double and a run for E-L. Kristina Morsovillo took the loss in the circle.
Mendota 13-10, Rockford Lutheran 0-0
Mary Wackerlin went 4-for-7 with six RBIs to lead the Lady Trojans to a Big Northern Conference West Division sweep in Mendota.
In Mendota’s 13-0 opening win, Wackerlin went 2-for-4 and belted a home run. She was 2-for-3 with a double and a pair of RBIs in Mendota’s 10-0 victory in the second game.
Ashlyn Kennedy earned the win in the first game as she allowed no runs on three hits with 12 strikeouts and no walks.
Taylor Browder was the winning pitcher in the second game. She gave up no runs on two hits with nine strikeouts and no walks.

The Red Devils scored 10 runs in the first inning as they routed the Red Raiders in a non-conference game in Earlville.
Brett Fanning went 3-for-4 with three runs and a pair of RBIs for Hall, while Blake Moreno and Pete Mautino each had two hits and three RBIs.
Taggart Venegas earned the win for Hall with three perfect innings. He struck out five batters.
Brock Kreiter had E-L’s only hit.
Marquette 11, Rockford East 1, 6 inn.
Evan Snyder led the Crusaders with his bat and his arm Thursday.
Snyder went 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs while also pitching five innings to earn the win in Marquette’s non-conference home victory.
Snyder allowed one run on three hits with 10 strikeouts, three walks and one hit batter.
Trystin Raikes was 3-for-3 with a triple, two runs and three RBIs.
IVCC 8-4, Black Hawk 0-2
The Lady Eagles improved to 7-1 in the Arrowhead Conference on Thursday with a doubleheader sweep of Black Hawk in Moline.
In IVCC’s 8-0, five-inning win in the opener, Katie Nauman went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs. She also pitched a complete game, allowing four hits and striking out two.
La Salle-Peru graduate T.J. Chapman went 1-for-3 with a double and a pair of RBIs.
In IVCC’s 4-2 victory in the second game, Katie Huss was 1-for-2 with two RBIs and a run.
Paige Hill earned the win in the circle as she allowed one run on four hits with a strikeout and two walks in 5 1/3 innings.
TRACK & FIELD
The Aurit sisters led the way for Marquette on Thursday as the Lady Crusaders placed third with 37 points at a four-team meet in Seneca.
Seneca won with 120 points.
Dani Aurit won the 1,600 meters in 5:37 and placed second in the 800 in 2:28. Paige Aurit won the 800 in 2:25.
Allison Taylor ran a 1:06 to win the 400 and the Lady Crusaders claimed the 1,600 relay in 4:24.
In the boys meet, Marquette was fourth with 42 points. Herscher won with 80 points.
Luke Hill led the Crusaders by winning the 3,200 (9:48) and 1,600 (4:46) and placing second in the 800 (2:17).
John MacBean won the discus with a toss of 125 feet, 6 inches, while Clay Armstrong claimed the shot put with a throw of 42-5 ½.
The La Salle-Peru boys team placed third among three teams Thursday at the Rochelle Title IX Meet with 39.5 points.
Sterling won with 83.5 points and Rochelle was second with 62.
The Cavaliers had three event winners.
Logan Zeman cleared 6-3 to win the high jump, Brett Kowalczyk won the shot put at 49-1 and Camry Sarver won the 3,200 in 10:39.

The Cavaliers claimed one singles match and a pair of doubles matches Thursday to edge the rival Pirates in a Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference match.
Reo Hammers topped Jackson Evensen 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 singles.
L-P also received victories from Jake and Trent Lipka at No. 1 doubles and Justin Burks and Drake Bruhns at No. 2 doubles.
Ottawa’s David Dobrose won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 singles, while the No. 3 doubles team of Alec Lindemann and Luke Winchester won 6-0, 2-6, 6-1.
Moraine Valley 5, IVCC 4
The Eagles won two singles matches and a pair of doubles matches Thursday as they fell in a non-conference match on the road.
La Salle-Peru graduate James Pellican won 1-6, 6-1, 12-10 at No. 2 singles and also teamed with Princeton alumnus Scott Blessman to win 6-1, 6-4 at No. 3 doubles.
L-P graduate Nate Adcock earned a 6-4, 6-3 victory at No. 6 singles and also paired with Ottawa alumnus Matt Guenther for a 7-6, 6-2, 10-2 victory at No. 2 doubles.
