La Salle-Peru senior Brianna Zeman kept the Mendota softball team in check Saturday.

The Lady Cavalier hurler allowed just three hits while striking out seven to lead L-P to a 7-0 non-conference victory at Veterans Park in Peru.

Zeman, who moved to 2-0 with the victory, received plenty of offensive support.
Classmate Haley Wren led the way as she went 2-for-3, drove in four runs and scored a run.

Junior Abby Turczyn was 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs, senior Brittany Zawacki went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and a pair of runs and senior Carly Spelich was 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Lady Cavs (3-0).

At LaVergne, Tenn.
The St. Bede softball team went 2-1 Saturday at the Lady Warrior Southern Classic to finish the tournament 2-3.

The Lady Bruins opened Saturday’s action with a 4-3 victory over Tullahoma (Tenn.). Junior Emmi Christensen had two hits and an RBI, while Lainie Schweickert drove in a run and earned the win in the circle.

In the second game, St. Bede fell 9-3 to Hendersonville (Tenn.). Christensen was the losing pitcher.

St. Bede capped the tournament with a seventh inning rally to win 3-2 over LaVergne.

Down by two in the seventh, Nicole Yaklich singled to start things off. With two outs, Lydia Stariha singled.

Barbi Prokup then ripped a triple to tie the game before scoring the winning run when Schweickert beat out an infield single.

Schweickert had two hits and earned the win.

Hall 1-3, Serena 9-2
The Hall softball team split a doubleheader with Serena on Saturday in Spring Valley.

In Hall’s 9-1 loss in the first game, Adriana Pikula went 2-for-3. Stephanie Stocking took the loss in the circle.

Kylie and Deidra Whightsil each went 1-for-3 with a run for Hall (1-1) in its 3-2 win in the second game.
