Community Sports Notes: L-P baseball holding fundraiser

The La Salle-Peru baseball team is holding a fundraiser from 4-9 p.m. April 3 at John’s North Star in La Salle.

The event, which is dine in or carry out, cost $7.50 and includes a quarter chicken with fries. Tickets can be purchased from any L-P baseball player or at the door.

BFA meeting tonight
The Better Fishing Association of Northern Illinois will meet at 7 tonight at the VFW Post 4668 Hall in La Salle.

The event’s program, which is free and open to the public, will be on fishing regulations and boat safety. A conservation police officer will be on hand to discuss and answer questions concerning topics.

The regular BFA board meeting will be at 6 p.m.

District 20 softball training event
District 20 will team with Little League Softball and the Softball Factory to hold a training event April 20 at Veteran’s Park in Peru.

The event will be held from 8:30-11 a.m. for girls ages 8-10 and costs $25, from Noon-4 p.m. for girls ages 10-12 and costs $35 and from 5-9 p.m. for girls 13-18 and costs $35.

Registration forms can be found on the District 20 website under the “Handouts” tab. Cost is cut in half by using the promo code “LLSPERU”.

NCAA Tournament championship party
The St. Joseph Cemetery Committee is holding a NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship game party April 8 at St. Joseph’s Hall, located at 1929 Fifth St. in Peru.

The event is free and includes door prizes, food and beverages. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the game starting at approximately 8:20 p.m.
