Prep of the Week: L-P's Logan Zeman

NT Sports Staff

Name: Logan Zeman

School: La Salle-Peru

Year: Junior

Sport: Track and Field

Event: High jump, relays

Other sports: Football, basketball

What’s your favorite thing about spring: Definitely the weather, and I really enjoy track. It’s one of my favorite sports because it’s more laid back and not so competitive all the time.

What’s the most embarrassing song on your iPod?: Probably “Party in the U.S.A. “ by Miley Cyrus.

Which celebrity would you take to prom?: I would probably take Megan Fox because she is hot.

What food could you win an eating contest with?: Probably macaroni and cheese. I really like the shells and cheese.

What three words best describe you?: Smart, athletic and kind.

What’s the one thing you do that drives your parents nuts the most?: Probably when I don’t clean my room.

Last week’s accomplishments: In only his second indoor meet this season, Zeman jumped a personal-best 6-foot-7 to win the high jump at Saturday’s Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference Indoor Meet at the Westwood Complex in Sterling. He was also a member of L-P’s 1,600-meter relay team that finished fifth.

Zeman on his performance: It was really nice because the week before I had only got 6-4. Since I had been going up about two inches every year, 6-7 was my goal for the year, so to get it at my second meet I was really excited, especially since I almost got 6-9, which is the school record. After last weekend, I’ve raised my standards and am looking to hopefully get 6-9 at some point this year.

Coach Marty Makransky says: He had a really good week of practice, and that made a difference. He felt a lot more confident than his first time out. He’s got the ability, and he’s really good jumper.
