Roundup: PC's Pavlovich, L-O's Browning don't advance in 3-point contest

A pair of area girls basketball players came up short in Thursday’s 3-Point Showdown at the Class 1A state tournament at Redbird Arena in Normal.

Both Putnam County junior Daniela Pavlovich and LaMoille-Ohio junior Shiela Browning hit seven 3-point shots in Thursday’s preliminary round but neither advanced to the finals.

No area competitors advanced in the 3-point competition out of the Class 3A Washington Sectional.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
IVCC 80, Black Hawk 71
Arnisha Thomas scored 30 points — including 22 points in the second half — as the Lady Eagles beat the snow and pulled out the Arrowhead Conference win Thursday afternoon in Moline.

IVCC led 42-34 at half before it finished out the victory in the second half.

In addition to Thomas, IVCC’s Sydonia Daniels scored 19 points, while Joselyn Castelli added 10 points.

MEN’S BASKETBALL
IVCC 85, Black Hawk 81 (OT)
The Eagles pulled out the thrilling Arrowhead Conference win Thursday afternoon in Moline.

IVCC led by a point at halftime before Black Hawk sent the game into overtime.

In the extra session, IVCC outscored Black Hawk 14-10 to pull out the win.

Alec Schwab scored a team-high 28 points for the Eagles, while Michael Murray added 23 points.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
TRAC All-Conference
Bureau Valley sophomore Heaven Bennett received honorable mention in the Three Rivers Athletic Conference All-Conference Team, which was released on Thursday.

Riverdale senior Hannah Nimrick was named the TRAC Player of the Year, while Riverdale’s Mick Kopriva and Prophetstown’s Don Robinson both were named TRAC Co-Coach of the Year.

GIRLS BOWLING
BNC All-Conference
Mendota’s Elizabeth Willis and Madison Myers were both named to the Big Northern Conference West Division All-Conference Team, which was released on Thursday.

Mendota’s Michaela DeLong and Hollie Reppin both received honorable mention.
