Prep of the Week: Jens Soderholm

NT Sports Staff

Name: Jens Soderholm

School: La Salle-Peru

Year: Senior

Sports: Basketball

Nicknames: Chens. Just some guys on the team call me that. It started last year with Casey Huebbe. I called him Chasey and he called me Chens.

What are your future plans? I’m undecided where I’m going to college, but I’m definitely going to play basketball and I want to be a chiropractor.

What is your favorite sports memory? The game-winner last year against Ottawa.

What is the most played song on your iPod recently? “Cowboys and Angels.”

What is the most embarrassing song on your iPod? “Girls Just Want to Have Fun.”

What is your dream car? An Audi A8. I just think they’re sweet.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go? Bora Bora because it’s tropical and I love the ocean. It’s nice, sunny weather.

If you could spend a day with any famous athlete, who would it be and why? LeBron James because he sounds like a funny guy and I respect how he plays. I think it’d be fun just chilling and playing Xbox.

With what food could you win an eating contest? Cheeseburgers.

Last week’s accomplishments: Soderholm started his week with a game-high 29 points in a 76-69 loss at St. Bede. He had 25 points and 10 rebounds last Friday in a 77-57 rout of Dixon in a Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference West Division game in Dixon.

Soderholm on his performance: We played strong as a team. We didn’t win against St. Bede, but we had good ball movement and pretty even distribution. I felt like my shooting percentage was good and I was hitting a lot of shots. My teammates were trusting me to handle the bulk of the load.

Coach Jim Cherveny says: It’s really been a pleasure the last several weeks to watch Jens grow as a young man and as a basketball player. When he’s on the court, he has the ability to take over a game at any time. I think the kids really respect his game and what he’s been doing the last several weeks.
