The IVCC men’s and women’s basketball teams both went up to Freeport and pulled out slim Arrowhead Conference victories Tuesday over Highland.
In the women’s game, IVCC let a 15-point halftime lead slip away but the Lady Eagles pulled out an 81-79 overtime victory.
Arnisha Thomas scored a game-high 30 points to lead four Lady Eagles (17-7) in double figures. Marquette graduate Jessica Jessen scored 14 points, Brytney Bennett had 11 points and Ottawa alumna Asya Williams added 10 points.
The men followed with an 81-80 victory behind a huge night from Princeton graduate Michael Murray.
The sophomore forward had a double-double with a game-high 36 points and a team-high 12 rebounds. He made 9-of-11 two-point field goals, 5-of-7 3-pointers and 3-of-4 free throws.
Corey McCrary finished with 15 points, six assists and four steals for the Eagles (14-9), who led 48-41 at halftime.
Mendota 46, Rock Falls 32
Ally Bromenschenkel scored a team-high 13 points Tuesday to help the Lady Trojans to a Big Northern Conference West Division road victory against a team Mendota may see again in the postseason.
Rock Falls is the No. 2 seed in the Class 3A Sterling Regional, while Mendota is the No. 4 seed.
Amy Devitt and Abby Bromenschenkel each added 10 points for the Lady Trojans (19-8), who trailed 24-21 at half.
Bureau Valley 54, Princeton 50
Parker Neuhalfen scored a game-high 23 points Tuesday to lead the Storm to a non-conference victory over the rival Tigers in Princeton.
Brian Lange and Tommy Johnston each added 10 points for Bureau Valley, which led 31-16 at halftime and 41-33 entering the fourth quarter.
Zach Stroud scored nine of his 13 points in the fourth quarter for Princeton, while Austin Mack also finished with 13 points.
Putnam County 64, Streator 33
Harold Fay scored a game-high 18 points and dished out four assists Tuesday as the Panthers routed Streator in a non-conference game in Granville.
Xavier Warren finished with 10 points and five rebounds for PC.
Leland-Earlville 52, IMSA 46
Nolan Baumbach scored 15 points Tuesday to lead the Panthers to a non-conference win in Earlville.
Colin Bomstat had 12 points and Andrew Walsh added 10 for L-E (7-16).
Serena 69, DePue 48
Three Little Giants scored in double figures Tuesday night, but it wasn’t enough as DePue fell in a non-conference game in Serena.
Jose Raya led DePue with 13 points, while Isaac Reyes scored 12 points and Austin Zimmer added 11.
Paw Paw 68, Marquette 63
The Crusaders led the non-conference road game 37-28 at halftime but let it slip away in the final 16 minutes as they were outscored 17-14 in the third quarter and 23-12 in the fourth.
Curtiss Johnson led Marquette (10-14) with 21 points. Michael Sypniewski scored 14 points and dished out six assists, Austin McDonnell had 11 points and Elliot Kowalski finished with nine points, 10 rebounds and four steals.
