Community Sports Notes: L-P to hold spring athletic meeting

La Salle-Peru high school will hold an athletic code meeting for spring sports at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, in the auditorium.

All athletes going out for a spring sport and a parent or parents are required to attend this meeting – unless they attended the fall or winter session – before the athlete is eligible to participate.

A sport specific meeting will follow for each sport at 7 p.m.. For more information contact the L-P athletic department at 815-223-1721.

L-P youth football registration
Early registration for the La Salle-Peru Youth Football League will be held Jan. 30, Feb. 5 and Feb. 13 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Illinois Valley YMCA.

Levels of play for the 2013 season will be 2-4th grade, 5-6th grade, and 7-8th grade.

Princeton Girls Got Game Shootout
The fifth annual Girls Got Game Shootout, sponsored by the Princeton Athletic Booster Club, will be held for the basketball tournament, which runs March 16-17 at Princeton High School.

There will be divisions for grades 5-8, featuring teams from single-school districts. Entry fee is $120 with a three-game guarantee depending on entries in each division. Divisions will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.

D20 umpires to meet
The District 20 umpires will meet at noon Sunday, Jan. 27 at Parkside grade school. The upcoming Little League Roadshow clinic, postseason assisgnments, and payment of dues will be discussed.

All D20 umpires are required to attend. Attendess are asked to use the west entrance at Parkside.

Mendota coaching vacancy
Mendota High School is looking for a freshman girls softball coach. Interested applicants should submit a letter to Gary Barrera, Mendota Township High School, 2300 West Main Street, Mendota, Il, 61342, or gbarrera@mendotahs.org.

Non-certified staff must have a (A.S.E.P) coaching certificate or are required to receive one before they will be allowed to coach.
