Area Roundup: SBA girls basketball downs IVC

The St. Bede girls basketball team bounced back.

After the Lady Bruins lost in heartbreaking fashion in the championship of their Lady Bruins Christmas Classic last Saturday, St. Bede rolled to a 41-28 victory over IVC in Thursday’s NCIC game in Chillicothe.

Whitley Funfsinn hit three 3-point shots and scored 13 points for SBA, while Mo Dean added 10 points and Raley Mauck chipped in seven points.

The Lady Bruins built a 14-4 lead after the first quarter and held IVC to 10 points at half and just five points in the third quarter.

In all, SBA made five 3-pointers against IVC, who it beat last week at the Lady Bruin Classic.

Indian Creek 44, LaMoille 13
Shiela Browning scored eight points and Elizabeth Geuther added five, but no other Lady Lion player scored as they fell in the Little Ten Conference game Thursday in LaMoille.

La Salle-Peru 2685, DeKalb 2444
The Lady Cavaliers received games of 190 and 188 from freshman Gabbi McCabe as they earned the Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference win Thursday morning at the Illinois Valley Super Bowl in Peru.

Sterling 3109, Ottawa 2916
The Lady Pirates fell in the NIB 12 match Thursday in Ottawa.

Chrissy Pond rolled a 219 high game as part of a 585 high series for the Lady Pirates, while Hailey Gualandri added a 484 series.

La Salle-Peru 3022, DeKalb 2742
Kyle Tieman rolled a 217 high game and a 570 high series as the Cavaliers claimed the NIB 12 victory Thursday at the Illinois Valley Super Bowl in Peru.

Justin Burks added a 206 game as part of a 561 series for L-P.

Jake Lipka added a 202 game as part of a 523 series, while Luke Tomaszewski added a 206 game as part of a 504 series.
