The Mendota High School Booster Club will sponsor a food drive during the home basketball game Friday against Winnebago.

Anyone attending the game who brings in a non-perishable food item or makes at least a $1 cash donation will be given a raffle chance to win baked goods, gift cards and other door prizes that will be given away throughout the evening.

All food and monetary donations collected that night will be given to the Mendota Area Christian Food Pantry.

VFW having fish fry for L-P bass fishing team
A fish fry and sale of T-shirts and baked goods to benefit the La Salle-Peru Township High School’s bass fishing team will be 5-8 p.m. Friday at La Salle VFW Post 4668, 24th and Donohue streets, La Salle.

The cost will be $7 per plate, plus 50 cents for carry-outs. For tickets in advance, call (815) 223-6665.

Putnam County girls basketball holding benefit
The Putnam County girls basketball team is holding “Panther Power for Lilly,” a benefit for Lily Rosploch, a 3-year-old La Salle girl battling cancer, on Dec. 13.

The event begins at 7 p.m. before the Lady Panthers’ game against Marquette.
Fans are encouraged to wear purple. Items such as plasma TVs will be raffled off.
