Area Roundup: IVCC mens basketball beats Rock Valley

The IVCC men’s basketball team picked up a 94-69 non-conference win over Rock Valley Thursday in Rockford.

Four Eagles tallied double-digit scoring, led by former Princeton standout Michael Murray who had 21 points in addition to a team-best 12 rebounds.

Also for IVCC, Corey McCrary had 19 points, Perry Adams 15 and St. Bede graduate Alec Scwab added 13.

The Eagles led 50-36 at half and outscored Rock Valley 44-33 after intermission.

Rock Valley 71, IVCC 52
The Lady Eagles led by two at halftime but couldn’t hold on as Rock Valley outscored them 42-21 in the second half for the victory in Rockford.

Sydonia Daniels led IVCC with 15 points and added 12 rebounds. Arnisha Thomas also had a double-double with a team-best 19 rebounds and 10 points, while Shareita Patton chipped in with 10 points for the Lady Eagles.

Putnam County 50, Henry 17
The Lady Panthers pounced on Henry for a 18-0 lead after the first quarter and held the Lady Mallards under 10 points in each of the remaining three quarters en route to the TCC win in Henry.

Stephanie Wilson led Putnam County with 10 points, and Daniela Pavlovich added eight for the Lady Panthers (6-1).

Shelby Wright led Henry with seven points.

Peoria Christian 52,
Marquette 26
A 20-point second quarter helped undefeated Peoria Christian (5-0, 2-0 TCC) to the Tri-County Conference win over the Lady Crusaders (2-3, 0-1 TCC).
Kendall Kaufmann led Marquette with nine points.

Hall 3,262, Dixon 3,628
The Red Devils kept rolling with a win over the Dukes at Ladd Lanes.
Al Baldonado was high roller for Hall with games of 224, 204 and 236 for a team best series of 664. David McManus added a match-best 254 game and a 652 series for Hall.

Streator 2,13, Ottawa 2,790
Natalie Conrad came one pin away from a 600 series with games of 196, 200 and 203 but it was not enough as the Lady Pirates fell to Northern Illinois Big 12 West Division foe Streator at home in Ottawa.

Hannah Thompson added a high game of 205 and a 565 series for OTHS.

At Dixon
The Ottawa wrestling team topped dixon 45-24 and fell to Sandwich 60-19 in a triangular Thursday.

Cyrano Rayfield, Sean Taulbee, Tanner Boaz and Danie Close all earned a pair of wins for the Pirates.
