Year: Senior Sport: Basketball Position: Center Other Sports: Softball Nicknames: Taylor Miller calls me Meg, but most people just call me Mo (instead of my full name of Morgan). Superstitions: I honestly drink a Red Bull before every game. What’s the one thing you do that drives coach nuts the most?: I always have to stop what I am doing and look him in the eye to comprehend what he wants me to do. I don’t think he really likes that because I completely drop what I am doing. If you could spend a day with one athlete, who would it be and why?: (Motocross star) Travis Pastrana because he has so many amazing accomplishments and talking about them would be the best thing in the world. I just think he is an amazing athlete. What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?: I am not really that intimidating. I am a giant Teddy Bear. Most people see me and think, ‘Oh my God. She is going to beat me up.’ But I am a nice human being. Last week’s accomplishments: Dean opened the season in style as she scored 20 points and grabbed 16 rebounds in a loss to Wethersfield. Over the weekend at the Brimfield Tournament, she scored eight points in Friday’s win over Elmwood and then had a game-high 25 points in Saturday’s loss to Brimfield. In all, she averaged 17.7 points in three games. Dean on her performance: It is really, really exciting. This team is great with everything. They gave me the ball and I put back a lot of rebounds, which is awesome. St. Bede coach Tom McGunnigal says: Mo came out the first game against Wethersfield and in the second game in the tournament against Brimfield and really asserted herself. She plays big, she can score big and we definitely look for her. Forever and a day, we talk about how our offense starts around the basket and works its way out, and there is no better answer for that than Mo inside.
