The IVCC men’s basketball team opened its IVCC Classic with a win Friday.
The Eagles had three players in double figures as they soared to the 82-70 win over Oakton.
IVCC’s Perry Adams scored a game-high 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds — including six offensive rebounds — while sophomore and Princeton graduate Michael Murray chipped in 18 points and a game-high 14 rebounds and four steals.
Corey McCrary also had 11 points for the Eagles, who led 45-36 at halftime.
IVCC returns to action today as it plays Waubonsee at 4 p.m.
In Friday’s other game, Waubonsee snuck past Carl Sandburg 79-78 in overtime.
Eureka 57, Fieldcrest 40
The Lady Knights led by two at halftime but were outscored 30-11 in the second half — including 20-7 in the fourth quarter — as they lost in the first of three games at the Central Illinois Tip-Off Tournament Friday in Eureka.
Tessa Holland scored a game-high 15 points and grabbed six rebounds for Fieldcrest, while Haley Ruestman added 14 points and five rebounds.
The Lady Knights led 29-27 at half but fell behind 37-33 after three quarters before Eureka pulled away in the fourth quarter.
South Beloit 60, Earlville-Leland 50
Alexis Maxwell had 22 points and 13 rebounds, but the Lady Red Raiders fell in the Ashton-Franklin Center Tournament Friday.
Julie Musich added 11 points and four rebounds for E-L, while Molly Torman contributed four points and 10 rebounds and Katie Meaney six points and seven rebounds.
