2012 Boys Cross Country All-Area Team

Al Baldonado, Hall
Year: Sophomore
Season highlights: Baldonado led the Red Devils to second-place at the Class 1A St. Bede Regional by finishing fourth in 16:41. He also had the area's best finish at the Princeton Invitational (fourth, 16:54) and capped his season with a 14th-place finish in 16:42 at the Oregon Sectional.

Adam Frick, Ottawa
Year: Senior
Season highlights: Frick was the area's best Class 2A runner this season. He finished seventh at the Morris Regional in 16:49 to help Ottawa place second and advance as a team. At the Peoria Notre Dame Sectional, Frick ran a 16:41, which earned him 60th place.

Luke Hill, Marquette
Year: Senior
Season highlights: The 2012 NewsTribune Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year capped his career in style with a ninth-place finish at the Class 1A State Meet in a school-record time of 15:07. He also won the St. Bede Regional and finished second at the Oregon Sectional.

Joseph Parochetti, Hall
Year: Senior
Season highlights: Parochetti had a strong ending to a solid career. He finished sixth in 16:49 at the Class 1A St. Bede Regional to help the Red Devils to a second-place finish and a sectional berth. He capped his career with a 15th-place finish at the Oregon Sectional in 16:46.

Alexis Pettis, Henry-Midland
Year: Junior
Season highlights: A year after falling just shy of state, Pettis made sure it didn't happen again. He finished second in 16:03 at the Class 1A St. Bede Regional then punched his ticket to state with a third-place finish in 16:05 at the Oregon Sectional. Pettis also won the Tri-County Conference title.

Mark Spika, Marquette
Year: Sophomore
Season highlights: Spika proved to be a solid No. 2 runner for the Crusaders in his second year on varsity. He placed seventh in 16:57 at the Class 1A St. Bede Regional then took 13th in 16:42 at the Oregon Sectional to help Marquette earn a team state berth. At state, he finished 62nd (16:02).

Ryan Taylor, Bureau Valley
Year: Junior
Season highlights: Taylor excelled as BV’s No. 1 runner. He finished fifth in 16:11 at the Class 1A Rock Falls Regional to help BV to a team sectional berth. Taylor then earned a solo state berth with an 11th-place finish in 16:11 at the Oregon Sectional. He took 49th in 15:52 at state.
