Area Roundup: Maldonado earns unanimous All-BNC West soccer pick

Mendota senior Rafael Maldonado was recently unanimously selected to the Big Northern Conference West Division All-Conference team. The senior striker led the Trojans with 13 goals this season.

Junior midfielder Nick Phalen, who had a team-best nine assists to go with three goals, and junior defender Jared Wiley also earned all-conference honors for Mendota.

Other unanimous selections included Ian Holley and Jake Kleveland of Oregon, as well as Mesfin Lenth, Leo Lenth, and Keaton Weber of Stillman Valley.

L-P All-Academic Awards
La Salle-Peru High School recently recognized Fall student-athletes with all-academic Honors.

Earning all-academic status for cross country were Drew Bacidore, Tiernan Ebener, Mathew Halm, Megan Krolak, Karina Lopez, Gabrielle Washkowiak and Julia Washkowiak, while Katlyn Camensich and Zachary Christmann were honorable mention selections.

In football, Adam Happ, Erik Gens, Colby Sassano and Logan Zeman earned all-academic status. Damion Allen, Anthony Berolino, Ryan Day, Cristian Delgado, Matthew Janz, Austin Knapp, Brandon Pawlak, Seth Schiffbauer, Jonathan Sydlowski, Billy Vickers, Conrad Weiden, D.J. Wilmot, and Eric Woodshank were honorable mention picks.

Rachel Gunia Keegan Samolinski and Alex Somolski were all-academic recipients in golf, while honorable mention picks were Luke Hartuaer, Jesse Moreno, and Jens Soderholm.

Earning honorable mention for soccer were Lars Flodstrom and Fidelmar Mora.
In girls tennis, Ancyia Crus-Molina, and Akari Oya were all-academic picks, and honorable mention status was earned by Hailey Backes, Meagan Clark, Katherine Kaszynski, Tara Ketner, Ashley Klieber, Mariah Noonan, Taylor Piontek, and Katie Wellner.

The regional champion Lady Cavalier volleyball team saw Brianna Argubright, Katlyn Gealow, Rachel Hunt, Jessica Suarez, Heather Senica, Brittany Zawacki, and Brianna Zeman collect all-academic honors. Josie Kampwerth, Katie Olson, Mia Porter, Callie Schmidt, Sarah Shevlin and Abigail Turczyn were honorable mention award winners.
