Roundup: IVCC beats Sauk Valley

La Salle-Peru graduate Crystalynn Washkowiak dug up a team-best 18 kill attempts, put down a team-leading nine kills and served up seven points Tuesday as the IVCC volleyball team defeated Sauk Valley 25-16, 25-22, 25-23 in an Arrowhead Conference match in Oglesby.

Hall alumna Johnna Schults had a team-high 16 assists along with an ace, while Marquette graduate Jessica Jessen had 16 digs and a team-best eight points.

IVCC improved to 18-9 overall and 5-4 in the conference.

No. 3-seeded Marquette moved into the Tri-County Conference Tournament semifinals with a 25-14, 23-25, 25-12 victory Tuesday over No. 6-seeded Roanoke-Benson.

Mikaela English had 11 kills, 10 digs and seven aces to lead the Lady Crusaders (18-6), who play No. 2-seeded Midland, which beat No. 7-seeded Henry 25-21, 25-23 on Tuesday, in a semifinal match Thursday.

Angela Evola also had 11 kills, while Amy Rogowski had 17 digs and Mackenzie Killelea had 11 assists.

Erica Briner had six kills and three blocks to lead Henry, which falls into the consolation bracket to face No. 8-seeded Lowpoint-Washburn at 5 tonight.

Amber Kereta added 14 digs, three kills and a pair of aces for the Lady Mallards.

In other tournament action, No. 1-seeded Woodland dispatched No. 9-seeded Hall 25-17, 25-17 to advance to tonight’s semifinal against No. 4-seeded Putnam County.

Brooke Keegan had six assists and four aces for the Lady Red Devils (4-22), while Cherokee Gillispie added five kills and a block.

Hall will face No. 10-seeded DePue at 6 tonight in a consolation match.

LaMoille-Ohio def. Hinckley-Big Rock   25-22, 18-25, 25-22
Ashley Schrader had 20 assists and 18 digs Tuesday to help the Lady Lions to a Little Ten Conference victory on Senior Night in LaMoille.

Shiela Browning had eight kills, seven points and two blocks, Ragen Forbes added 15 digs, six points and two assists and Toni Lawrence contributed seven kills, two digs and a block for L-O (12-8, 5-2 LTC).

Fieldcrest def. Ridgeview 25-7, 25-5
The Knights reached their preseason goal of 20 wins Tuesday with a rout of Ridgeview in a Heart of Illinois Conference match in Minonk.

Gracie Wiesenhofer led Fieldcrest in assists (20) and digs (four), while Haley Ruestman put down a team-best eight kills.

Fieldcrest improved to 20-5 overall and 7-4 in the conference.

Bureau Valley def. Prophetstown 25-18, 25-15
Lindsey Hoffert recorded nine points, eight kills, four digs, two aces and a block Tuesday to help the Storm to a Three Rivers Athletic Conference victory in Prophetstown.

Sydney Lebahn added 18 assists, five digs, two points and a kill for the Storm (8-14, 5-6 TRAC).

Chillicothe IVC def.  St. Bede 25-15, 25-15
Morgan King had 13 digs, two points and an assist Tuesday as the Lady Bruins fell in an NCIC match in Chillicothe.

Lauren Urbanowski added three kills, three points and an ace for St. Bede (8-17, 0-3 NCIC).

Sterling def. Ottawa 25-12, 25-18
Jessica Wignes had six digs and three aces Tuesday as the Lady Pirates dropped a Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference match on the road.

Madeline Goetz had four kills and Kenzie Rombach added five blocks for Ottawa.

Paw Paw def. Leland-Earlville 25-17, 23-25, 25-21
Emily Grace dug up 18 kill attempts and served up 10 points Tuesday as the Lady Panthers lost a Little Ten Conference match in Earlville.

Sarrina Stewart and Marissa Petty each had four kills for L-E (6-14-3, 1-6 LTC).
