In a press release issued this morning, Ottawa police disclosed some preliminary results of the investigation into Ferrero’s death, reported at 10:08 a.m. Wednesday in the rear of his business, Herman’s Package Store.
Police said the investigation and autopsy showed no sign of struggle, no defensive wounds and no other individuals observed on video surveillance.
“The initial conclusion is the death was not the result of criminal activity on the part of any individual,” police said.
Ottawa police emphasized the investigation will not be complete until various laboratory testing results are received.
The release also indicated that Ferrero had, according to his brother, “suffered an illness of long duration which had worsened recently.” Police also relayed a request for privacy from Ferrero’s brother, Jim.
