Spring Valley firefighters are training to use their new fire truck — one with many additional features they will have to learn to use. But the most striking difference between it and other trucks is on the front grille.

Should have read Spring Valley and not Peru, Illinois

There is a lag code. No. Really. There is, and most of you never heard of it or read it.
You should, and then study the history of that flag. It is a proud history of those who bleed and died for that flag. Proud people
People who would rather die than let that flag touch the ground.
When I served in the military of this country we were a ragtag bunch from far different backgrounds and parts of this country. Some were teachers, some dirt farmers, bankers, bakers and a wide host of other crafts, and yes, a few were even said to be bums.
What we all had in common was a love and respect, let me repeat that, respect for that flag.
Some generals wife suggested, back the, that that flag should be displayed on our uniform.
Perhaps on the sleeve or on the breast over the heart, it took many years and and act of congress plus a ruling by the supreme court to get it done only to learn that in battle it was used as a target.
A lot of discussion went into weather it should remain there.
In the last decade the flag I and many have served under has undergone so many insults from people who will never give a moment of their lives to protect that flag and only see it for what it can give to them.

So.......... it is with deep sadness and a tear that I see that the city of Peru, Illinois has elevated that proud flag to the job of BUG CATCHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
