Freeway message boards coming to IV's I-39

Dan Daczewitz of Johnsburg said the contractors would be working on several of the automated, lighted message boards for motorists on I-39, I-80 and other locations in Illinois Department of Transportation’s District 3. The signs usually carry messages about seat belt use or other safety measures, but also can be used for emergency messages, such as ice on a bridge, crash or construction ahead.

Electronic message boards like those above urban freeways are coming soon to the Illinois Valley.

Crew members from McHenry were near Tonica the past two days, excavating and pouring foundations for a sign board that will be erected above Interstate 39 just north of Tonica. Another is planned north of the Illinois River, and more are coming soon for Illinois Department of Transportation District 3, which is based at Ottawa.

There are plenty of ways now, with accurate, up to the moment tehnology, to determine if there is a road hazard up ahead.
Weather, accident info, construction etc. are available when the traveler is off the road.
Stress, and society has forced us to travel when the environment urges us to reconsider. Stay off the road, if the conditions indicate, and when you are on it, pay attention.
And pay attention to the voice inside that warns you to beware--it is called intuition. And eveyone has it. Use it to keep yourself and others safe.
THAT is factual, real, and acting responsibly..

ME. You have some ideas that work for you amnd could be tried by others but a lot are unrealistic and not based on fact.
How would information on the condition of the road ahead be unsale.
How would an amber alert tha might help to save the life of a young child be a distraction.
How would the report of an accident and the location be a bad thing. Couls save time and money for drivers.
Just saying some thing to be saying some thing is not a good thing all of the time.

Where is the money coming from?

More distractions from driving are not advisable.
Awareness of the road, other drivers, passengers and focus on the activity at hand creates safety for all.
Those who authorized this need to reconsider.
Money does not replace life and safety.
Re-evaluate this action.
