Tony DeCarlo and volunteers setting up Saturday morning for the night's fireworks and festivities in Peru hope the weather man is right.

DeCarlo, supervising a group of Citizens Service Organization volunteers setting up the beer stand and other tables and tents Saturday morning, checked his phone for the weather. He said there's a 50 percent chance of rain, off and on, until 7 p.m., and then it should be clear.

The beer truck taps go on at 5 p.m., and family activities a couple of blocks to the east of the beer truck and band start then too. The band, Snapshot, starts playing at 7 p.m.

Patriotic music will play during the fireworks. The beer stand and Water Street activities shut down at 11 p.m., DeCarlo said.

The rain date is Sunday night. Flooding on the Illinois River led to the postponement of the July 3 fireworks, and Saturday night's events follow the same schedule and plan as the usual Independence Day holiday show.
