Going to Riverfest? Be aware of road closures

OTTAWA — The city of Ottawa announced street closures, parking lot closures and no-parking zones during Riverfest activities this week.

The 100 block of West Lafayette Street between Columbus and La Salle streets will be closed to all parking and through-traffic until today.

Beginning today at 3 p.m., the 100 block of West Jackson Street by Washington Square Park from the alley to La Salle Street will be closed to all parking and through-traffic until 10 p.m.

Beginning at 6 a.m. Friday, the 100 and 200 blocks of West Jackson Street from La Salle Street west to Clinton Street will be closed until Monday.

From 6 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday the block of East Jackson Street from Columbus Street east to Paul Street will be closed to parking and through-traffic 6 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday, the city parking lot in the 800 block of Columbus Street will be closed to parking and vehicle traffic.

Beginning at 10 a.m. Sunday, limited traffic access will be allowed on the far west streets of Ottawa, and parking will not be allowed on West Madison Street.

Beginning at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Route 23 southbound traffic will be rerouted from La Salle Street east onto Washington Street, to Columbus Street and then back to La Salle Street via Main Street. The traffic detour and parking prohibition on both sides of Columbus Street will last until 4 p.m.

Also, drop-off boxes for Mediacom, the post office and water department in the 100 block of West Jackson Street will not be available for use until Monday. The drop-off box for the postal service in the 100 block of Lincoln Place will not be available for use until Monday.
