Hottest tickets in town?

Got concert fever? If so, there are opportunities this summer to get your remedy.

Plenty of tickets are available for this Sunday’s “Concert for a Cause” featuring country singer Thomas Rhett, according to show organizer Merry Noonan.

“Thomas Rhett is one of my favorites,” Noonan said, adding she was looking forward to “a beautiful day with lots of people.”

Sunday’s country-themed concert at Illinois Valley Regional Airport will raise funds for books for Lostant School, Noonan said. Opening acts are Cole Swindell, Drew Baldridge and Brushville.

Noonan is a co-owner of Lou’s LaGrotto Restaurant in Peru, which organizes the Concerts for a Cause each year.

“We take the airport — a piece of land — and turn it into a concert venue,” Noonan said. “We build a complete venue from the ground up.”

Uproar rock festival
A second concert, the Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival, is planned for Aug. 16 at the airport. The show will feature 10 rock bands on two stages. Proceeds will benefit technology upgrades at Centennial Elementary School in Streator, Noonan said.

“It’s just something we really enjoy doing a couple times a year, and we give a portion of the proceeds away,” Noonan said.

Bureau County: Beach Boys tickets selling fast
What might be the hottest ticket in town is The Beach Boys, coming to the Bureau County Fair on Aug. 21.

“Ticket sales are going great,” said marketing director Tracy Brenneman, adding the track and box seats were sold out, and there were still a few hundred grandstand seats available.

“There’s been a huge buzz around town ever since we announced it,” Brenneman said. “We’re looking forward to a great show. The Beach Boys have sold over a hundred million albums worldwide. This is one of the biggest shows we’ve ever done.”
