The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for southwestern Bureau County and Putnam County until 6:15 p.m. today.
At 5:03 p.m., severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Woodhull to Toulon and moving northeast at 40 miles per hour.
The storms are capable of 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-sized hail. Hail damage to vehicles is expected, along with wind damage to roofs, siding and trees.
At 5:22 p.m., severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Osceola to Sparland and moving north at 30 mph.
Locations impacted within the NewsTribune area include Buda, Tiskilwa and Wyanet, Hennepin, Princeton, McNabb, Granville, DePue, Spring Valley, Ladd, Dalzell, Magnolia, Putnam, Bureau, Mark and Standard.
Intestate 80 between mile markers 18 and 72 will be affected. Other locations affected include Hennepin Canal Parkway State Park and Henry County Fairgrounds.
Precautionary/preparedness actions recommended: Move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.
